It saddens me to see people talk about RB is such a negative way or any other member for that matter. We as adults choose to come onto this forum. We also choose whether or not to post on a thread. I have read some terrible things on this board. Have I ever been involved?? Probably.

I am by no means a "follower" but do email with her. She is a very carefree spirit. I have had my head bit off many times and RB was always there to keep the peace.

We may not like the way people are in this world but that does not give us license to talk trash when they are not available for comment.

I couldn't agree more! If you just read this thread, many posts are doing the EXACT thing they criticize Risque of doing. Some posters are even doing the exact opposite of what their own tag lines promote. You can't post about people's pictures here because you don't know if anything less than "it's beautiful" will hurt their feelings. This is a very sensitive board, and it's something to keep in mind when posting, I guess. If you don't like a certain poster, fine. But talking smack about them when they can't respond is a bit below the belt.

OH - standard disclaimer, I'm not meaning to offend, but people look in the mirror before hitting that submit button.

I, personally, will be very sad indeed if it's confirmed that RB has been banned. I have read quite a few of her posts, and while I will agree that she is opinionated, SO WHAT?!?! I've seen her attacked in a few of these threads, for nothing more than not sharing the opinion of the general population. I will say that I've only been here a short time at CC, so I don't know the extended history of her posting attitude, but I have repeatedly watched in awe as a thread turned to RB bashing because she dared to state her opinion! I thought that was what a message board was for? I would completely understand if she were throwing out slurs against people, cursing, and generally attacking the character of random CC members, but I have not seen that to be the case. What I see is an opinionated woman who is telling it the way she sees it. She doesn't sugar coat it, and she doesn't always come across as having a syrupy-sweet attitude. Maybe she does play devil's advocate quite a bit, but I think that most of the time she's just trying to interject a little perspective in the "poor me, life is so hard" threads that pop up all over the place around here. And honestly, we're all adults here--if you don't care for her opinion, don't read her posts! Or read them, disagree, and let it go! I find it incredible hypocritical for her to be attacked by the people accusing her of attacking others! She is entitled to her opinions, same as anyone else around here, and I think it's a horrible reflection of the community if a wide variety of opinions cannot be--if not embraced--at least tolerated! I know a lot of you follow the "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all" policy. That's great, if that's what works for you. But please don't begrudge others the right to state their own opinions, as long as they are not stated as all-out attacks. We should all be entitled to that!

I feel like I've just watched a feeding frenzy. I hope everyone's got this stuff out of their system. I'd hate to see this board degenrate into one of those places where it's OK to tear one another apart.

nannaraquel - well said.

I certainly will not feel welcome expressing my views if they do not match those of the author in a post anymore.

It's a real shame

Crimsicle - I'm afraid it already has. A member has been kicked out because some members did not like how she expressed herself even tho I'm sure there are just as many who understood the manner in which she posted.

That being said - in the future - just close the post and don't read it if it bothers you. That would end all the trouble.

there have been several times when a cc'er wanted an "honest" opinion, and i didn't even want to pos t anything constructive because it seems that kind of thing isn't done here. after hearing awesome job so many times it kinda loses meaning. do you know what i mean? i pm'd someone about their photos being a little blurry and how to fix it, and i was almost sick to my stomach worrying about how it was going to be taken. the member was very receptive and i felt much better, but i felt bad that i was so nervous to even send a pm. i'm not on here to here how wonderful my stuff is. i'm on here to share ideas, learn a few things(few hundred that is), and have a good time with my new found family. it takes all kinds of people to make up this world. i enjoy a good debate sometimes. i will miss some of that

I will say one thing, I don't like to make comments at all on here because of the negative things that went on here....

It's my opinion that if you don't understand why people had a problem with people....then you weren't an object of her/their criticisms.

I haven't been either but know many that have been.

I'll go back to my shell now...

one last post from me on this...

before we continue and this post goes to 25 pages and is locked -

do we know for sure that she (or anyone else) has even BEEN banned?

This could all be a moot point - which would then make this thread sooooooo silly!

You know, the FIRST thing through my mind when I started reading this was that maybe she found the person who was snagging her photos from CC to use on that junky website and tore loose on them lol. icon_biggrin.gif

I will sorely miss Risque and her unique, independent thinking and her own style of debate. I was on here about 2 weeks when I figured out that she was a blunt and direct person (which BTW is the type of person I'd much rather hang out with because I know exactly where I stand with them), and knowing that, I took her posts and comments in stride. While I may have disagreed a few times with her, she NEVER offended me with her opinions. She has a passion that is unmatched in her love for high standards, following the rules and how to run a successful business. The threads that I read that got a little heated were, in my ever-so-never-humble opinion, not caused by RB's comments, but got heated when others responded to her comments in attack mode.

I don't want to belong to a site in which we all have to be Stepford wives. I would love for comments like "Awesome cake!" not to lose it's value and actually mean something. I enjoy belonging to a site in which we can exchange ideas and opinions and learn from each other's experiences and mistakes .... and at the end, still remain very good friends.

I will miss Risque very, very much, and I wish her well.

In all fairness to Jackie and Heath, I got the impression (from RisqueBusiness herself) that she had been asked on a few occasions to "tone it down". So, it's not like they unfairly removed her.

My parents always taught me and my 5 siblings that freedom of speech is a truly a wonderful and powerful tool, but keep in mind that every thing you utter has 1 of 2 outcomes.....it has the power to either build something or someone up, or it has the power to tear down.

I have never forgotten that lesson from them. Everytime I leave a comment or address someone or a situation, etc, the question pops into my head all the time.....

"Am I building up or tearing down".....

Wow! I didn't see anything wrong with RB's post in "to comment...". There were no bad words and she just stated her thoughts on the whole commenting thing. There were several people who were quite close to RB's view on that whole topic....which is, btw, getting worn out.

I don't think RB's posts are troublesome, they're just an opinion of someone who, sometimes isn't wearing rose-colored glasses.

I have been a member of this board for almost 2 years. I spend WAY to much time here icon_lol.gif In my time though I have noticed a few things. This is a nice caring community, because of the effort Jackie, Heath, and the moderators make it be. If it weren't for them this place would be a free for all like most other sites.

I have seen ALOT of good helpful people run off from this site. Manners seem to be a thing of the past, and it saddens me. icon_cry.gif I don't have a problem with what is said -most of the time- but how it is said.

If you are the reason that 3-4 post a day are being locked, you might need to rethink your wording.

I will miss Janice and I hope this is only temporary on her part.

If RB is truly gone - she will be missed. I respect her honest opinion - which is what so many CC members say they want. Unfortunately if the honest opinion isn't to their liking they no longer want it. She calls it the way she sees it. Like others have said - without knowing the person many things can be read into postings that don't exist. Such a shame the way things are turning out here. As a long time member - i've noticed a lot of changes here - not all good.

Both Janice (veejaytx) and Mara (risquebusiness) are both friends of mine.

On the better side of them, they both were willing to offer their expertise at the drop of a hat, no matter who asked.

Mara, a trained pastry chef, was always there to offer her knowledge of the more technical aspects of sugarcraft, and always knew the right answers about running a business, taxes, licensing, etc.

Janice was readily available to share her skills, and always knew just the right things to say when giving constructive criticism.

I will miss both of them.

I think it's horrible that she was banned. Her comments were not the rude ones in that thread.

It seems that some people just had it out for her, and I'm just wondering if they feel better now? thumbsdown.gif

You can't control people's personalities. There are people I work with that are outspoken and guess what?....they still do their job and are helpful.

I didn't find her personality offensive. I find the attack on her now to be offensive.

I will miss her.

Wow... I guess I'd better watch what I say from now on. I'm also the "devil's advocate" type. I say what I feel and not what people want to hear. I'm honest - but I always try to be respectful. Sometimes (because of many years working in the legal field) I know my writing comes off a bit abrupt or harsh... even though that's not the way it was intended.

In looking at her post, I see that she uses a lot of words in all capital letters. Typically, we see this as 'yelling' and maybe THAT'S why people are finding it offensive?

Since I usually respond in the "quick reply" box, I don't have the option of italics and often use all caps to emphasize a point or word.

I'll speak up for RB. If we have lost her, we have lost a very talented cake decorator resource. I did not always agree with her opinion, but she does know her cake business. If she got off on a rant, I just scrolled down the page. No one forced me to read the whole thing.
