Dang, I'm kind of nervous now! I'm working up an invoice for a bride and Googled the reception site in order to get its address. Oh boy..... icon_surprised.gif

It's supposed to be "the most haunted building in America."

Woooooooooeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeooooooooooooooooo

I'm actually a little nervous about this. What if the ghostie screws with my cakes? icon_confused.gif LOL

Ashton Villa House Museum in Galveston, TX

Yikes, I hope my pictures taken at the reception don't reveal anything....otherworldly.

The house looks really beautifull, but who likes to held their reception there??? But maybe you will end up with a picture of a ghost cutting your cake.

Sherri,

Make sure you leave a slice for Casper! I've checked out Ashton Villa in Galveston when I was engaged, and I ran out when I saw a HUGE active beehive with a million bees looming around the front portico. The hostess told me that beehive has been there for years and they think it adds a lot of character to the venue. Can you believe it? There were atleast 50 bees out and about all around my myself and my mother. The hostess said "Don't worry, they are used to people." I just kept picturing a bee flying inside my wedding dress.... icon_eek.gif

Wow! That's really cool,,,a REAL haunted house! I'd be excited, hoping I would see a ghost. Actually, my Mother's spirit has visited us off & on over the past 5 years. It's not really scary: very peaceful actually. If your lucky, maybe your pictures will show the ghost. No, just kidding,,,,,I know you don't want that. Hope everything turns out fine for you............

Best wishes,,,,,,,,,,,,,, icon_eek.gificon_surprised.gif Bunny

Wow...you learn something new everyday. I've lived in Houston most of my life and been to Galveston many times and didn't even know the history of that building!

I say....just watch out for the bees!

Sherri,

I hope you will be delivering during the day. My best advice would be to take someone with you!

That's funny...I too have been in Houston my whole life...been to Galveston for years...and have never heard of this haunted place!!!!

What kind of design are you doing for this cake anyway???? icon_smile.gif

Let's see...I'll have my Rosary in one pocket, a flask of holy water in the other, some garlic tucked into my bra, some Bendryl in my purse in case I get attacked by bees, and will be repeating the Lord's Prayer. LOL Oh, and I'm definitely delivering while the sun's up.

I already told my husband that while I'm setting up the cake, he needs to go take pictures in all the rooms so we can see if something unexplained shows up! icon_biggrin.gif

Traci, this is a 3 tiered, stacked construction square cake (6", 10", 14") with simple piped designs (Swiss dots on top, diamond-patterned latticework on middle tier, cornelli lace on base tier) and the cake topper is a Swarovski crystal-studded monogram (man, these are popular right now!). So, I have to stack 'em and pipe a border while there....not too time consuming. The groom's cake is a 24" Shiner Bock bottle (chocolate cake, chocolate buttercream, fondant). I used this groom's cake as an excuse to buy the edible image stuff. icon_biggrin.gif I hope it doesn't look to cheesey with an edible image on it rather than a hand-piped label...still contemplating that. What do you think?

Cakepro? What if the ghosts are Baptist? LOL!! I would love to do a cake for a place like that!! How exciting!! Be sure to tell us all about it when the wedding is over. I can't wait to find out what happened! Being from Louisiana we believe a lot of ghost stuff. But I for one have never seen one. LOL~ Have fun & don't get too nervous!

Sherri,
You could always use your edible image as a template and go over it with icing. I sometimes do that for cakes that I really do not feel like doing a gel transfer. However...I am all about edible images...so I think you would be just fine using the label. It sounds really neat! I can't wait to see pics! icon_smile.gif

Tell the ghost to go to the light! Then set up the cake; no need to sweat it!!

We always go down to the coast for the summer and I've never heard of that place either. Hmm!!! Interesting!

Look at it this way, if anything goes wrong with the cake then say the ghosts did it! Take a lot of pics!!!
