I recently purchased the FMM Script Cutters and am dying to use them, but no matter how thin I roll my gumpaste or fondant, and no matter how much 10x/cornstarch I dust my surface with, they keeps sticking to the cutter! Can anyone tell me how to get the letters to fall out of the cutter?

Although i don't have them (yet!) I have read that perhpas the gumpaste needs to be a little on the stiffer side before you use the cutters. This and perhaps dusting the cutters with the cornstarch?

Would either of you post the link for these cutters please?

I agree with tripletmom, try the cornstarch on the cutters--I do that with cookie dough with my cutters.

rub your cutter in the cornstarch a bit will help, but then you'll just have to whack it on the edge of the table sometimes too... I have the same problem (just don't whack hard enough to break the plastic...) That usually gets the letters out.

Thanks guys! I'm going to try them again tonight. I've been dusting my surface, dusting the cutters and wacking the crap out of them (not too hard that I'll break them!) and still can't get the letter out! MELC...do you roll your fondant/gumpaste very thin, or do you keep it a little on the thicker side? I bought mine at Sugarcraft, but I'll see if I can find a pic of a cake that's decorated with them and post it!

I have the same problem with mine. I've been using a q-tip to gently push them out but i'd love for them to come out on their own!

Debbie

I got mine from Sugarcraft too

I rolled the gumpaste quite thin... re-dip the cutter in the corn starch before each letter (haven't tried it on fonadant yet)

Nermal03... I got mine @ www.klarajohnsons.com/ in Cambridge, but I think you can get them from www.creativecutters.com in Richmond Hill too.

MelC,
Is the cake board forum CakeCanada.com open for anyone to post to, or are all the members Canadian? Just wonder! Looks like a friendly spot. : )
