Hey everybody! I wanted to try and make a cake look like ceramic, so, I started designing the cake and my husband commented that he thought maybe I should leave it the way it was! So I took a pic of the cake before I painted it, and then after I had painted it. Im curious which one you guys like better! Have a good weekend!

I like the first one better but the second one is great too!! How did you do that?
well, i like them both.....but I really i like the simplicity of the after!! also, it is easier to see the flowers on the second.
nope, HollyPJ....it's me. I was looking at the pics in order they were posted in the attachments!!! OOPS ![]()
I didn't think I was looking at them right.....should have read the captions a little more closely!!!
I think they both look fabulous...I love the look of the ceramic cake....but as someone else mentioned...I also love the way the flowers stand out on the other cake.
I wonder how it would look if you did the faux finish first and then applied the flowers? Hmmm....
Anyway....great work!
I like them both!! I even let my hubby and kids look at them. They thought they were both fabulous!! I also think that the before is more of a bridal look and the after is more birthday/anniversary. I would love to know how you achieved this look. Great job!

Another vote for after....both cakes are really cool, though.
My vote is for After! It is very unique, I love it!
Yes both are great but I go with the after because of the look you were trying to achieve. But like adven68 said- I wonder how it would look to add the accessories aftere the painting.
Wow Great job
Also are you goin to let us know how you acheived this beauty? ![]()
They are both Beautiful,But I would have to go with the second one
Both are amazing.. BUT after is the one I would vote for..
Thanks everybody, so much! I was looking at a pot on my patio and wanted to try and recreate the finish, soooooo, I intially kneaded the MMF, a kind of sea green color, then I made the flower design and applied that, then I mixed blue and black together, took a paper towel and blotted the mixture directly on the cake. I let that set and then went back with a paintbrush to make some final touches! There is so much you could do with this method, change up the colors or the designs or like you said adven, blot first and then apply the design!!
