I would like to know what everyone's favorite combo of cake, filling and frosting flavors are. icon_confused.gif I am just starting to experiment with mixing it up and not just using regular BC for filling and frosting & would like to try different cake flavors also. Just looking for ideas to start with. icon_wink.gif TIA

I do a really moist Banana Buttermilk cake (partner's "Monkey Cake" recipe) with a Milk Chocolate Buttercream filling that people adore. It is actually fast becoming my 3rd most popular seller....after Dark Chocolate and Tahitian Vanilla cakes, of course.

My most popular so far are

French vanilla with Apricot filling or marmalade filling - BC frosting
Deep Dark Chocolate with White Chocolate Raspberry filling - BC frosting or Chocolate BC

yellow cake with lemon curd...I bake the cake with 1cup orange juice substitution for the water...yum!

also have done the same with pineapple juice and then put pineapple preserves for the filling mixed with cinnamon & brown sugar...kind of like a pineapple upside down cake that can be decorated!

My three most requested flavors are

-Donauwelle (Donau Waves: layered chocolate cake, vanilla cake, cherries in sauce, iced in whipped cream and chocolate ganache coating)

-Blueberry muffin cake: super dense and moist blueberry cake with fresh blueberry fruit sauce, blueberry mousse, marzipan, iced in mexican vanilla mousse, topped with streusel

-Desire: super dark chocolate cake, whipped dark chocolate ganache, light chocolate cake, dark chocolate truffle filling, iced in dark chocolate fudge coated in dark cocoa

I love Oreos, so my fave is Cookies-n-Cream cake, with Cookies-n-Cream filling, and white chocolate buttercream. Use whole Oreos around bottom of cake for border, crushed Oreos on top. Everyone loves this!

Thanks! I'm working on getting these typed up to submit to the recipes section icon_biggrin.gif

The Donauwelle cake is a traditional German favorite in southern Germany, but I 'Americanized' it by torting it, completely icing it and 'kicking it up a notch', lmao icon_biggrin.gificon_razz.gif
The blueberry cake is my own conncoction and the Desire cake is inspired by a famous pastry shop here in town (I took the best parts from three cakes and put them together icon_biggrin.gif)

I just mix my own buttercream w/ pineappleapricot jam and it tastes so good with the carrot cake and cream cheese frosting.

As for the cookies n cream I just add crushed oreos to my buttercream. Very very easy.... nothing fancy, but it tastes so good! icon_biggrin.gif

My favorite is snickerdoodle cake with carmel filling and cinnamon butter cream icing.

It's kinda plain compared to the above suggestions but to me it's totally yummy!
