Hi Ladies! Well MavericksMommy, I am with you...this icy mess outside our windows right now is quite a let down... I was hoping this was going to be the "big one" that the weather folks were building it up to be last week.

You New Englanders are in for a real treat b/c it's heading your way next...but it will be a big one for you! This front has been over top of us forever!

Stay warm in TX and Ohio...geez, hope you have a shovel and a snow blower! Staying in...what a great time to practice new recipes!!

Take care everyone!

Well, the snowing & blowing is over! YEAH!! Our power went out at about 1:30am. Luckily, I got all the decorating done pand was just cleaning up. It gave me a good reason to leave things be and head to bed.(Of course now I have to clean up this morning!) My hubby stayed up to make sure our dogs & bird would be warm. He said that it was out for a little more than an hour. I was a little worried that all my hard work would go to waste(yeah right!) if the schools were closed again today but I checked the listings and schools are open... looks like Cupid is watching over us! lol
I hope everyone is safe & warm after all this snow!!

well.....I'm in Northern Ohio and only in a Level 2 snow emergency county...but somehow all the counties around us are a level 3. I've been on lay off of work- not by choice for a total of 7 weeks now. But when my hubby came home from work yesterday afternoon. he said that they were told that only if there was a level 3 in the county they didn't have to show up for work....level 1 or level 2...show up or it counts against you. GREAT!!! I get up at the butt crack of no dawn that I could see- just this stupid snow.... and get dressed to go outside to shovel the snow while he got ready for work. I'm out there for over a half hour, just doing out miniature sidewalk and his parking space, because when I got home yesterday from his parents house I thankfully shovelled out our two parking spaces....though low and behold this morning I find that the freaking plow guy plowed in our cars because we live at the end of the parking lot. GREAT!!!!!! So I'm out there heaving it away while it blows in my face. The silver cloud in all of this...I actually saw our tires on our cars because I shovelled the spaces out yesterday. But when I looked down the way...everyone else has snow up past the tires. Finally, hubby leave and I finish the spaces about a half hour after he leaves.....all the while I have a sinus infection since last Friday...wahooo... I get inside start looking up the fact that allllllllllll the places in town do not have first shift running today only to hear the plow kid out there again and he undid all my freaking work by plowing the parking lot into one of our nice and clean spaces!!!!! I LOVE THIS SNOW SO MUCH!!!! Correct me if I'm wrong...but didn't Buckeye Up-Chuck groundhog see his shadow?!?!?!?!?!?

ha ha....maybe I'll go back outside and shovel this afternoon afterall I did say to my husband that I loved to shovel when we first got married because I never got to do it when I was little (we lived in the middle of no where).....I think this is paybacks for me and my big mouth...ha ha ha ha

STAY WARM!!!!!!

I'm in the Dayton area.....lots of snow here as well, however, I was out making deliveries last night in it. Although the roads were covered, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be....just had to go REAL slow! I'm finishing up deliveries this morning! Wish me luck!

(Hmmm...first post crashed....let's try again!)

Report from Indianapolis! icon_razz.gif

I have snow 4 feet deep in my driveway and against my garage door. Layered with ice and snow. No way we can get it manually. We're on the list with a private contractor to plow us out. I'm too old and fat for THAT much physical exertion! Hubby broke the shovel blade trying to clear the walkway!

In the backyard, it's drifted up to the bottom of my windows and on the patio, it's drifted up the the top of the gas grill (to the level where you put the food to cook it). If I sent my 14 year old out there, it would be up to her boobs!

My son-in-law has a truck so big we call it The Titantic and he got stuck in his driveway! The snow was up past his tires. Thank god my pregnant daughter is not going to work today! Her office even told her to stay home.

The city had all trucks on the roads last night, including 25 trash trucks that were converted to snow plows plus I don't know how many private contractors and still only the main roads are open. I feel for those who were working in all of this .... fire, police, road crews, etc.,..... God bless 'em all.

We had 12-14". In Lafayette, a little NW of us, they had 17". I thought only you guys in Buffalo NY got this much snow!!! icon_confused.gif

It may be shutting the barn door after the horses are out, but as soon as I can get out, I'm buying a snow blower. Fat, old women cannot do the manual shovel thing!

it's a mess here in canton too. stark county got nailed! i just watched neighbor guy across the street slide his truck sideways into his front yard, then he slid down the front slope of his yard and banked hinmself over the sidewalk! he's not going anywhere til all this stuff melts! yikes! praise God that my hubby got to work safely. i'd like to take the kiddies out to play, but i'm afraid that i might lose my toddler in the snow! it looks like it's as deep as she is tall! lol. stay warm and have fun baking everyone!

Yesterday afternoon turned into a mini-white out. I could see the fence row across the east field, but it was through a misty white haze. Very pretty, but really nasty if you have to be out in it. I'm very glad I don't have stock to worry about or trudge out to the barn to feed and water particularly since the drifts around the barn door look about 3 ft. deep. This morning the back yard looks like Sahara sand dunes, almost bare of snow in spots and with deep drifts carved into strange formations in others.

Lizzie -my dog- scared herself by trying to walk on one of the drifts. She sank into her elbow-or whatever that joint is called in a dog. She had to run back to the porch to reassure herself that nothing was going to swallow her before she attempted her morning frolic. If you are not familiar with standard poodles, they resemble young colts when tearing around the yard. High speed runs, sudden stops, change direction and take off again. She was a bit snow covered when she came it.

I have a mini Yorkie that likes to bury himself in snow! Weird! I just tug on the other end of the leash to find him!
I was headed out to the store yesterday when all of this started to get supplies for some new orders when they anounced on the radio that the grocery stores were closing -sending employees home early. That was nice for them- but now I can't even get out of my driveway and am out of supplies!
I've lived here for 20 years and don't remember the snow being quite this deep- and it's still coming down! I'm going to have to make an attempt at getting to the store today. I'm losing valuable baking time! Have to do 3 dozen more cupcakes and a 9" oval for Friday!

My sister's name is Dara! Never saw anyone else with that name! Love it!

Surprised to see that my office actually closed today! They never close! I was going to stay home anyway today because we're under a Level 2 and the daycare is closed. So... guess I'll just have to practice with some baking. Here in Orient, OH we didn't get it nearly as bad as some others. We're just a little north of Circleville and although we got about 5 inches of snow we got tons of ice. Luckily our power didn't go out like a couple of years ago. Everyone stay warm!

caryl ... you live in Clinton??? My husband grew up there, and his mom just moved down here to Columbus from Clinton last year!!! It's a sweet little town ... I love the "town" area with the historical homes. I miss my MIL's house in Clinton ... she was on several acres with a little creek running in the backyard ... it was so peaceful.

What a small world!!!! icon_smile.gif

Hi cakesbyjess!
I'm just outside the actual town of Clinton in Franklin Township- or now 'The Village of New Franklin', but am in the mailing adress of Clinton- and nobody knows about the new village thing. It is a quaint little historic town. My husband grew up here. I love having lots of property with deer and critters in the back yard, yet still being close to town. The best of both worlds! Hope your MIL likes Columbus!

Hi caryl! I'll have to tell my MIL about "The Village of New Franklin" ... she still has some friends in Clinton, so maybe she already knows about it. I miss all of the deer and critters in her backyard ... she even had a few wild turkeys that would visit regularly! She misses her old house, but after her my FIL passed away, it was just too much for her to take care of by herself. So, she moved to Columbus to be close to her kids and grandkids. She seems to be pretty happy here. icon_smile.gif
