Made with evaporated milk, this achieves the consistency of whipped cream.
1 In a large bowl, cream butter, shortening, sugar and vanilla for 8 to 10 minutes. With mixer on high, add cold evaporated milk 1 tablespoon at a time.
2 Frost cake as desired and keep refrigerated.
I'm not much of a whipped frosting girl ... well really I'm not a frosting (or cake) person at all. I've made so much I can't stand eating it. Anyway! Creaming the mixture for 8 to 10 minutes seems a bit overboard without the milk in it. It did turn out fluffy for me, but I had to add almost a cup more powdered sugar to make it a frosting and not a glaze. We'll see how my customers like it on Saturday!
