These mini cakes are just adorable!! i know miniatures are all the rage right now, are they difficult to do?

They are not so much difficult as tedious. To make 3 tiered mini displays and 3 petit fours, it took me a total of 13 hours from start to finish.

Wow those are georgeous!!! I HAVE to know though... what sizes are they and what did you use for the pillars to stack them? Wonderful job!!

Actually these are display cakes so they are made with styrofoam underneath. I cut the circles from a 1" thick sheet of styrofoam then covered them in fondant and decorated with royal icing. The layers are 4"x2", 3"x1.5" and 2"x1". I think Magic Line makes real pans these sizes. Flowers are silk. Pillars are Wilton separater plate stabilizer pegs.

Hey, my mother lives in Richmond, right by Midlothian! I should tell her to take your class! Are you still teaching there? Actually, I think that is the Michael's she goes to.

Thank you, everyone, for your kind words. It would shock you to see what the store employees did to these display cakes! The Petit Fours were thrown away, the white/lavender one had the pulled out of it and a birthday candle inserted to promote birthday parties, and the peach one had the top ripped off so they could put clay bride & groom figures on it to promote a wedding special. Only the green one is still intact!

Just read what happened to your cakes! What were they thinking!?! Can you still have people burned at the stake? LOL These mini cakes are gorgeous.

I was about to ask how your cakes are treated in the store. Mine get picked apart by adult customers and then the employees just throw them out! Yours were too beautiful! I bought a clear basketball cube to put them in now so people can not touch them! So sorry that happened to your cakes! BTW, I'm in Fredericksburg, VA
