You're nicer than I am, I wouldn't even bother to give them the courtesy, they sound like a bunch of a-holes. Just put them on your no-cake-for-that-venue list. I have a couple of places that I won't deliver to, and if a bride calls and says that's her venue I tell them that I won't deliver there. If they ask why I just say that I've had bad experiencees with them in the past but I don't go into details. Let them wonder...

OMG!!! For the way the husband treated you I would have got the police involved, i know its drastic but I would have done it for a scare. People can't go around treating other's that way : (((

Really odd thing about this was that I never had any contact with the bride at all.
I've never worked like this before. The owner (wife) sent a photo and a list of details (flavors, colors, flowers etc)
It's very strange to me but I assume any future weddings there will be handled the same way,
Through the owner. I don't think I want to do business there in the future. It doesn't seem
Worth it to me at all.

Wow. What a way to run a business! And, I would guess they charged the bride a premium over what they paid you for the cake.

I'm so sorry you had to be subjected to a bully like that.  I like  DeliciousDesserts advice but also costumeczar - Into the No cake for you column!  Leave it on the washer, indeed!

That is exactly what ran through my head the first time I did that. It was even yellow! At least the other color wasn't black, but still!

I should share with you all the last part of the "story" from yesterday.  I am still shook up and unsure of how to deal with what happened to me at this venue....but I wanted to at least know that things went well with the cake......so last night at 9pm I sent the following email and have so far gotten no response:

 

 
Hello, 
As this day comes to a close I would like to follow up with you on the wedding today. How was the cake received by the bride and groom?  Did everything go well today?  Because your husband was so upset with us for our early arrival I wanted to be sure everything went well afterwards. 
 
I realize now that I do not even know the bride or grooms names.  Huh.  I've never let this happen before.

That is soooo wrong! Some people are soo heartless!! Luckily their are more appreciative customers than un appreciative.

End of May I had a graduation cake with a letterman jacket hat and football. I was up all night making it slept for 15 minutes. I sent her pictures and left to my daughters kindergarten graduation. (Pickup at none)She txted me back and said it was not what sne wanted. That she wanted it EXACTLY like the picture she sent me. (In that case she should of contacted that baker.) She asked me what I could do to fix it. Well nothing.. I was pleased with what I did and didnt see that it needed to be fixed. She said "well I guess I will take it since I have no other choice". I took a breath (trying not to cry at my daughters graduation over this) and refused to give to her. I told her I would not let her take and bash my cake infront of all her dinner guest. So I stood there and looked at the caKe when I got home and decided to GIVE it to one of my friends who was also graduation. She offered to pay but I gave it as a gift because I knew it would be appriciated. So here are the before and after it worked out perfectly!

After this incident everyone told me that she is the type that is NEVER happy and doesnt appreciate anything. Wow thanks for telking me now lol!

AllaMarie, I love that you did that.  I think if, when these people throw the Diva fit, complaining over nothing, if someone stood up to them and simply said NO, you aren't going to do that to me, they might think twice in the future about lying.  Good job!

Aha! Well, I guarantee that what was happening, then, was that the venue offered the bride a package deal, where they take care of everything for one flat fee. They would then charge her more for each item than they're paying the vendors, so they're making money on each transaction. If they told the bride that she's paying $600 for the cake, they're only going to pay you $400 for it. You don't know the difference and neither does the bride, but they're pocketing the balance.

I am so glad you did that! I hope she learns her lesson! I am sure she was happy with it, how could she not be? She probably just wanted money taken off, of for you to give it to her. I hate it when these idiots get their way because other idiots let them. It rewards bad behavior and  perpetuates it.
