Yippee!! I am at work tonight and one of the nurses has asked me to make her Valentine Cakes for her children!!! I feel so honored icon_smile.gif They always love the pictures of my cakes when I show them. Hopefully it will turn into even more orders. The scarey part is if she wants the heart cakes to be red!!!!! Yikes!!

I made red icing today in royal icing and used Americolor Super Red and added some Wilton No Taste Red (quite a bit of each) and got a really good shade of red.

Congratulations on your first order. How exciting! I work in an emergency room and my first cake order came from one of the PA's. I delivered it to her at work (her request) and it generated two more orders that night. icon_biggrin.gif Good luck. I too just ordered my Americolor reds. I can't wait to try them.

WooooHooooo Lazy_Susan! You're on your way! I am currently in Wilton course III, and I have had 3 paid orders so far. (My first was a full sheet for a engagement party) It just seems like Everyone wants Cake!!! And sometimes I feel guilty because I'm charging them for something I love to do! Anyway, I'm sure orders will just start pouring in for you!

My Americolor Red was shipped yesterday, just in time for Valentines!
Can't wait to try it!

Congratulations!! We wanna see them when they're finished.

We use Americolor at the bakery where I worked, and they are wonderful colors. Sometimes red will darken a bit as it sits, so make up your red icing the night before and make it a wee bit lighter than you think you really want. If it gets darker by morning, no harm done, and if not, you can add a little more color.

Americolor rocks!

If you melt some red candy melts and add tehm to your icing before adding the red coloring you won't need to add as much color and it tastes great.

Love your version of the Indian Love Call, big Nelson Eddy and Jeanette McDonald fan are you?
My mother used to drive me nuts singing that!

Not sure if you really want to know, but haha, they were film stars and singers, they did musicals in the 30's and 40's. They had opera trained voices. actually really good voices. They had very successful records too.
Haha, brief enough for you kiddo but you still get the idea?

congrats to you Lazy sue (hehehe that rhymed)

I also had someone ask for an all red cake but I pusuaded them to do red decorations instead. I was just afraid that they may not like the taste of such a red cake, even though i use the no taste red. In the end they were very pleased with the cake and have ordered 4 cakes since then.

Again i say congrats dont forget to post a pic.

Hey, sounds like a Buddy Holly song! icon_biggrin.gif

Oh, Nelson Eddy.... I had such a crush on him, watching old reruns of his movies. He was in a (slightly comical) remake of Phantom of the Opera with Claude Rains, plus a lot of other musicals including I Married An Angel and my personal favorite, Maytime.

Hmmm..... If Food Network can do a cake challenge for Elvis, can we do one for Nelson? LOL! Lots of cakes that look like Canadian Mounties! thumbs_up.gif

The music in Maytime was really nice, wasn't it? I think I have watched all of the movies with my mother, she forced me to, haha! And she knew all the words to all of the songs too and would sing them, she had a really good voice. But as a teenager, she drove me nuts with those songs, haha!
Heavens, Mountie cakes, oh no, haha!
