Noddy And Friend

Noddy And Friend on Cake Central

Noddy is leaning on a little enchanted tree trunk which can't be seen from this photo. The tree had a little nest with 3 eggs in it so there was something to look at from any angle. I have just shown the top of the cake to let you see the detail a little closer.

Yes, I mix sugarpaste (fondant) with 1 teaspoon of CMC gum powder to make it firm but pliable and easy to use. It allows the pieces to dry solid and keep their shape. I made this design onto a cake card covered in fondant then attached it to the cake with a little royal icing and piped around it to hide the edges.

in all seriousness...how do you make such beautiful figures??? they are soo adorable. did you take classes??

No, I've never taken a class. I've always been quite arty but not seriously. I love anything animated and not realistic and anything with a sense of humour. This is just something else I thought I'd try and I'm glad I did. After 8 months of playing at it I won a Bronze Award for standard of work and design at an annual National Competition. I have since won 2 Golds. With no qualifications really I am happy with that!
