Double Cheeseburger Cake
One of the guys at my husbands office asked when I was going to do one of those infamous burger cakes (my first one was really not that good compaired to this one). So I put this together. I'm really happy w/how it came out except for the bun. Just does not look quite right to me. However, it seems to be a huge hit with the guys. I'll post a close up shot of the burger/condiments in a sec. Chocolate frosting on the burgers. Fondant for cheese. The rest is BC frosting.
Could you please email me the directions for this cake? It's great! I want to try to make this for my brother in law. What pan size etc. Thx. [email protected]
Sugar_Plum_Fairy, I love the idea of sunflower seeds as sesame seeds! I did not think of that. Thanks!... aine2, I'm sure your's is great too! It's all a progression. My first burger was no where near this good.
I think sesame seeds would make this a dead ringer for the real thing! Good Job!
Wonderful looking cake. Could you also e-mail me with the instructions? [email protected]
If you do make instructions...I would love them too ([email protected]) This is fun and creative cake!
This is such a fun cake. You did a great job!!!
Uhm, directions! LOL. Yeah, give me a bit to write them out. I'm getting four kidlets to bed right now. My best friend has decided this would make the perfect superbowl cake, so she's put in her request in advance :)
Great job. I absolutely love how the "cheese" looks. The only suggestion I would make for the bun is what I've done on my hamburger cakes (wish I could find the photos) - maybe add some shelled sunflower seeds to look like sesame seeds. Not good for allergies though, but then again there are all sorts of allergies... Again, great cake!!
If this is the kind of burgers served up where you are, I think my Scottish burger deserves to be sent to the scrap heap! This is fantastic and it's going into my favourites.
that look good....the cheese is awesome.....
I think the bun looks great, what/how did you decorate it?
I actually piped the chocolate frosting on half of the "burger" and then pressed it down to form a rounded edge while it was on a plate. Then stuck it in the freezer for an hour while I worked on the next one and the cheese. When i was frozen, I flipped it over and placed it on the cake and then frosted the other side the same way. Then blended the rows together so there wasn't a "line" between the top and bottom of the patty. It was fun to see the effect. The bun I sponged with brown food coloring ...
That is incredible. The cheese actually looks like it is melting. Would little fondant sesame seeds make the bun look better to you? I think it is fine.
I thought about doing sesame seeds w/frosting, but not fondant. Hmmm. That might help. I think it's more the color that's bothering me. It's to light? Or is it just me.....
I think you nailed the color of that bun! No worries. It looks great.
I would love directions as well, [email protected]. My nephew loves hamburgers and his birthday is next week. There is nothing about this that doesn't look right! It's perfect!
I actually posted the direction on this site under the forums. CC won't let me post the url. It's under "Cake Decorating" on the forums topic is "How Much would I charge? Double Cheeseburger Cake" Second page towards the bottom.
