This cake was for a couple who wanted a single tier as they didn't have a lot of guests or funding. Instead of making a very plain cake, I added the vines & other details. I was very nervous when they came, incase they didn't like it, but they did! Thanks for looking!
Beautiful! I love delicate decorations like that! What type of buttercream do you use? Mine is never that smooth!
I think my head is enlarging, you are way too nice! To answer "butternut"-I use the same frosting as to cover the cake, which brings me to answer "heathermari"-I switch between using Pastry Pride & other frostings. This one was a Betty Crocker Cream Cheese! So everything's done, saving time & once it sets, it smooths fairly easy with a hot spatula (you will have to re-heat the spatula many times, I keep HOT water by the cake). Thanks again for looking & all your wonderful comments! :D
The design goes great with the color of the masterpiece. Great job.
This is elegant.
Exquisite!!!!! Very well done.
Please provide your honest opinions! :D I do think the "center ring" on top should have been a bit larger. Thanks for looking! (Oh! You can view more of my cakes at www.OCakes.com!)
It is perfect. I love the detail. I bet it took alot of patience! :)
Absolutely gorgeous!! I wouldn't change a thing!! Excellent job on smoothing!!
I agree this is absolutely beautiful !!! how did you get it so smooth ! and the detail is so delicate looking... just beautiful !
I think the cake looks beautiful, just as it is. Great job smoothing.
Thank you VERY much! I smoothed it by allowing the buttercream to set in the fridge until firm & then warm a metal spatula with HOT water, dry it quickly & smooth the lumps/lines/etc. I let it set in the fridge again & then fill-in any shallow spots & re-smooth. Repeat that process as many times as it takes - so to answer ttowndiva - YES, a LOT of patience! 8O Thanks everyone! :D
