Tree Stump

Tree Stump on Cake Central

We saw this kind of cake on this site done by Franmjc from Australia, and really loved it so much we decided to do it for a party planning expo at our local mall. My husband did most of the work on it, since he happens to have most of the sculping abilities! Anyway, this is his version. This is one that went on the news station this morning!

Absolutely beautiful. You and your husband are very talented!!! I would love to try one of these cakes one day but I'm sure it won't look half as good as yours does :)

well, we give credit to franmjc; it was her idea first; getting the bark on the tree wasn't hard, but sculpting the critters was quite an endeavor for Dev... I think they are my favorite part!

You just take 3 double layer rounds, stack them up, and then cut strips of brown fondant. Apply them to the rounds, and then texturize them while they are still pliant. FOr the face, you have to wing it, but you just mold out the trunk intrinsically, and then the ivy is from a gumpaste cutter.

I don't know what to say but wow, amazing..... you did an awesome job. This doesn't look like a cake at all. This would be one of those cakes you don't want to cut up. Fantastik work!

I need to make sure my husband gets credit on this one; he is the true amazing talent of the two of us. I really helped out on small details (like cutting out the ivy, etc). It took him a few hours to do the bark; sculpting the critters is what took most of the time. Yes, he did airbrush it, but the animals were hand-painted with food color and titanium white.

Holy moly!! Now that one is equal to those on the Food Network Challenges if you ask me. OUTSTANDING!!

You two put me to shame! That is so amazing, the animals are unbelievable!. Are they made from sugarpaste?

I bow down in the presence of awesome talent!!! Would you PM me with what you charge for something like this? I'm always under pricing.
