Puppy Birthday Cake

Puppy Birthday Cake on Cake Central

This is a cake I made for my daughters' 2nd birthday. It was a pink poodle theme. I got my inspiration from the paper plates and napkins that had pink poodles on them. THe puppy is sitting on a pillow with tassels. All made of cake!

I love it!! I'm planning that same theme for my daughter's party. How did you do the puppy? Would you mind if I do the same cake? Of course, that means I'll be bugging you!

Lenette, you may use this same cake. I loved making this cake and my daughter absolutly loved it! The pillow is made from a 9x13 cake. The puppy is made from 2 oval cake pans. I cut one into two and stacked side by side and shaped the body. I cut the other oval cake into smaller pieces for 2 legs, 2 arm, and tail. Iced smooth in BC then piped on the rosettes with tip 1M and 21. The head is made of styrofoam covered in BC. Fondant eyes, noses, and bow. I hope that helps.

Kelleygirl, I used tip 233 for the tassels (same tip for grass) and tips 1M and 21 for the fur (rosettes).

Next Saturday is the big day! I think I just have two more questions. I know you used styrofoam for the head, but what size/shape did you start with? Is it a cone that you reshaped or a sphere that you added onto...or is it something different entirely? Also, what size oval pan did you use, and where did you find it? Thank you so much for all of your help! I will definitely post pictures when I finish!

The oval pans were the ones from the 2nd Wilton course. They came from the kit. I think they are 6 in oval. You could use an 8 inch round and just trim if need be. The styrofoam I used was a cone shape. I cut off the pointed part for the nose and trimmed the larger part into a rounded shape with a kitchen knife. Then stuck toothpicks into each piece to attach. Good Luck! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks so much! Are they made of fondant? I'm planning on making this cake for my daughter's pink poodle party. I showed her pictures of various cakes online, and this is the one she picked! It's soooo adorable!

criemers, Thanks for the compliment! The letters are made from fondant. This cake was very easy to do. If you have any questions just pm me. Post the pictures when you are done. I would love to see! Good luck!

Oh my. Honestly, I have been looking at poodle cakes for weeks now...This is the absoloute sweetest one that I have seen. Some of them are really nice but too sassy (for my 3 year old) I showed her this one and she was jumping up and down, soo excited! If you don't mind, I am going to attempt to copy your sweet poodle.
