I have gotten several PM about these roses and I guess the pics are hard to find so I thought I'd put them in a link.

These are the links for the pics. When I did mine I over lapped them top to bottom and only over lapped the bottom 1/4 so they are more full. When I rolled them I rolled top to bottom also, believe it or not it does make a difference. HTH

Chele Thumbs Up!

Thanks for posting the pictures and instructions. Caught Duff starting on these roses on his show when the girl scout troup was there but they didn't show how he did it. Will have to give this a try this weekend as I am still a beginner at making roses with any type of icing.

Like everyone said...thanks for posting. These seem so much easier than the ones I attempt.

Definitely keeping these instructions!

Thanks so much for sharing this technique. It's so much easier than making royal icing roses, or even using a rose petal cutter and cutting out each petal individually. I wish I'd seen this before I made 50 fondant roses yesterday, but I'll save your post for the next time I need to make roses. Smile

I love the Duff Style Roses... chele_belle great job on your roses!

I'll never go back to using the old method again... way too time consuming for a hobby. Smile

I can't wait to try it using Tootsie Rolls & Starburst's. I'm sure they'll all be eaten up.

how do you make them with starburst? I am making a surprise wedding cake for a friend and the she loves starburst. Roses made out of them would be great. Why is it a surprise wedding cake. They are just having a JOP wedding, but every bride needs a wedding cake. Any she doesn't even know she picked out her own cake. I was really sneaky about it.

I tried it today and if you thin out the edges of the circle a little, they look even prettier. I have trouble with the fondant/gumpaste ones right now. I'm still practing though! These should get me through for a while until I perfect the other methods. Thanks so much!

chele-belle, what did you make the roses out of. . . starburst, tootsie rolls? Please advise. I am awful at BC roses, this may actually save the day for me!
Thanx,
Leslie

These are made out of fondant but I imagine you could use starbursts rolled out just the same. I'm going to have to try starbursts myself. Smile
