This cake was requested by a wife who wants to surprise her Dentist husband for his birthday. She didn't quite know what it is that she want exactly, she just said that it should be something dental related. I then chat with her a bit more and find that her husband is a big fan of One Piece(Which I am too XD). So I've decided to make him a cake that's not just a dental related cake, but a mixture of his hobby as well. So here Chopper is helping Laboon to take out a piece of broken ship wheel that got stuck in between his teeth.
Made these as a gift for my husband's father's day gift. And also for those who love LOL <3 Cheers~
I've never done a pillow cake before. It was an exciting and fun experience for me. So I started off with a sketch digitally, done tons of researches on how a pillow shape would look best. Never ever over do the beads on the pillow! Delicate beads makes delicate pillows :D First, I made the rose ( It was my 2nd time making sugar flowers, and the first time I ever use gum paste!) Then I started layering and trimming the very basic vanilla cake I baked, as long as the pillow shape was carefully trimmed and looks correct, everything els became simple and less stress! Anyway~ always feel free to ask any questions! I am not a professional baker, so I can't say my knowledge is correct at all times, but I can definitely tell you how I do it. I designed this cake for my daughter's 2 years old birthday. First I started off by drawing a concept of the cake in photoshop, my husband made a rough 3D look in sketch up to see the actual size and dimension.
