Baby Shower Cake
Vanilla cake with pink vanilla frosting. I made this cake for my sister's baby shower welcoming her soon-to-be-born daughter Sadie. She wanted a really girly cake with lots of flowers, but if anybody knows my sister, she's definitely NOT a girly person. Since middle school she's been obsessed with cars - racing, mechanics, everything and anything to do with cars. Hence I created this beautiful pink fondant cake with white gumpaste roses and baby booties, complete with tire tracks running around everything. The tire tracks were embossed with a fondant embosser and painted with black food coloring. I made the roses and booties ahead of time with gumpaste, and the letters with royal icing on candy sticks. The tiers had to be transported in separate boxes (because I have a little passenger car) and assembled at the party. It was all worth it, though!

Easter Egg Cake
Orange Creamsicle cake (with some extra orange zest), lemon-orange flavored buttercream, cream cheese frosting filling mixed with crushed jellybeans, edible grass, and actual hard boiled eggs! I was inspired to make this cake when I saw that edible green apple flavored candy grass at Target. Check out that concept sketch! Getting the color between the eggs and the frosting to match was a bit of work, but I feel like I did a great job. This cake is a lightweight citrus flavor, perfect for spring, and the eggs provide a balanced breakfast (haha). Overall, I’m very proud of this cake!
