Super Hero Cupcake Cakes
A series of Three Super Hero Cupcake platters for a 3 sibling Birthday celebration. Each cupcake collection consisted of a pizza pan tray holding approximately 18- 19 cupcakes each. Each tray of cupcakes was then topped with a large Disc of Rice Krispie Treats ( trimmed to shape from a Large Sheet Size purchased from our local convenience store ! ) Starting with a base of homemade Marshmallow Fondant , I covered each disc , and then customized each for the individual birthday child.

Ewok Cake
We decided to use the Wilton 3-D Teddy Bear pan to make Wicket the Ewok for a Star Wars themed B-day party. Following the recommended cake batter amount per Wiltons directions it equaled about 2 and half box mixes , or 1 Scratch recipe to equal 6 and 2/3 cups - Roughly 6 cups for main fill of pan , and about a cups worth to fill Cone center. Due to the unpredictable nature of this bake , our base ended up using Rice Krispie treats , filling in some of the feet / paws. This actually helped the cake stand better in the end. For decorating we used pre -made frosting as we were trying to keep recipe Dairy Free . Due to humidity we added cornstarch and additional powdered sugar for added stiffness. For the leather cloak , we used ready made fondant ( it was yellow , so added more orange Wilton gel color in orange .) We added green and yellow gel to our white frosting for the grass. For the Eyes, we used Junior mints. For the Nose, Eyebrows, and other details we used softened Tootsie Rolls. For the teeth we used white Frosting stiffened with powered sugar and detailed it with toothpick and brown gel. Also used dabs of white frosting on Eyes for highlights.

Kids Basketball Court
Cake is a 2 layer " 9 x 13 inch base covered in homemade Marshmallow Fondant. The court itself was made from a Duff plastic mold then colored with vanilla extract and yellow Wilton color gel. Corn syrup was used to make court shine. For the hoops I used fondant on top of candy mold sticks for the backboards and folded and cut some Stitch Witchery nets, attaching them to boards with Corn Syrup. The stands were made from store bought Rice Krispie treats and covered with Fruit Roll ups ( using plain frosting to attach ). Used a non toxic marker to decorate gumball to look like a basketball. Pennants were Fondant on toothpicks . Our kids wanted to help decorate this cake so we made faces for the stands out of Necco Wafers and attached with corn syrup.
