My Pirate Baby!

This is the gumpaste figurine I made ahead for my Son's 1st birthday cake. It is my first proper attempt at a figurine and it is supposed to be my son dressed as a pirate (complete with his lovely golden curls!) but I have managed to make him look more like 10yrs than 1yr!!!

Congratulations On Your New Business!

I made this cake for my brother in law, we had a surprise party to celebrate him taking the plunge and working out his notice at the job he's done for the last 10 years to finally become full time self employed with his new business. Its such a big leap to go from a secure job to the uncertainty of a new business and I am so proud of him for following his dream so he deserved a nice big cake!!!! (The cake is a brandy madeira cake with a lemon curd buttercream filling, covered in fondant with gumpaste bunting and a gumpaste scroll)

Rubber Duckie Cupcakes

These were the rubber duck cupcakes that inspired my friends wedding cake (see other pics) I made these for my friends daughter on her birthday as she is mad on rubber ducks! The cakes are vanilla cupcakes with a swirled vanilla butter cream and hand made marzipan ducks, the soap bubbles are just piped butter cream covered in edible glitter.

Mothers Day Cupcake Bouquet

This was my first attempt at a cupcake bouquet which I made for my mum on Mothersday in 2009. They are vanilla cupcakes with piped roses in vanilla buttercream using a petal tip. The foliage is plastic as I hadnt discovered gumpaste back then!

Snowflake Christmas Cake

This is a cake I made for myself Christmas 2010, I took inspiration from another beautiful cake I saw online made by 'small things iced' ( ) so all credit to her where its due! I handpiped all the snowflakes in royal icing then dusted them with luster dust so they shimmered. The cake is a boozy fruitcake covered in marzipan and fondant with hand piped royal icing pearls and snowflakes with luster dust and edible glitter for that extra snowy sparkle! I also made matching cupcakes which were christmas pudding flavoured with a sherry butter cream. This was actually my first ever fondant covered cake as up until then I had only ever made cupcakes!

Favourite Things Cake

This is a cake I made for my husbands birthday. It is a fondant covered vanilla victoria sponge with vanilla buttercream and strawberry jam. I hand piped the top in royal icing and hand made various fondant pieces. The cake represents all his favourite things about our favourite place Hong Kong. There is our favourite bar's logo, the star ferry, the duk ling junk, favourite museum, favourite cocktail the ning sling, and favourite food the Hong Kong egg tart. On the top is a dim sum basket with char siu bau my hubby's fave dim sum dish. He loved it :-) I made the whole thing from start to finish in a couple of hours starting at 1am!!!

Golf Birthday Cake

This is a birthday cake for my next door neighbour who is mad on golf, I made a fondant golf ball and hand rolled every blade of grass from gum paste! The side pattern is piped royal icing & fondant.

Rubber Duck Wedding Cupcakes

A wedding cupcake tower for my friends wedding day, she wanted my rubber duck cupcakes and a big cupcake cake. I'm pleased with the cake and cupcakes but It was my first attempt at fondant figures and I am not particularly proud of them. I left them to the last minute and ended up making them on the morning of the wedding in a rush which didnt help!!

Antique Cameo Rose 90Th Birthday Cake

This is a 90th birthday cake for my neighbour. The cake is a fruitcake covered only in fondant as they didnt want marzipan, so excuse the bumps I did my best!!! There is handmade gumpaste flowers and a gumpaste cameo with a royal icing piped gold frame.

Cupcake tower for my best friends wedding, her bouquet was white roses and Singapore orchids. I also added a last minute mini cake with a hand-piped design from their invitations. The invites had been personally designed for them and each flower represented something special to them.

Goodbye Cupcakes!

These were made for a work colleague as a leaving gift from the team. I airbrushed gumpaste discs and piped goodbye phrases and the persons name in royal icing then placed on top of swirled buttercream.
