Red Solo Cup
The inspiration for this cake came from the Toby Keith song, "Red Solo Cup." This was made from a 15x11" cake and was frosted with crusting buttercream and smoothed. The writing was painted on with black coloring gel (Wilton, no vodka to thin). The "spilled beer" was made from 1/2 cup confectioners sugar and 1/4 Tbsp water, dyed accordingly and microwaved until bubbly to make it a little clearer. I used an outline of frosting to contain it and spooned it in while still warm. Once cooled, I brushed it with corn syrup to make it glossy. Just before serving, I put whipped cream (from the can) around the "beer" to create a foamy look but you could also use white buttercream.

Pink Zebra Cake
This was made with 2 - 9" and 2 - 6" round cake pans. The cakes were pink and dark brown zebra print inside. I made white cake batter and dyed it pink, then made some chocolate cake batter as well. Once you prep you pans - you want to get 2 large spoons (approx 3 Tbsp each) or similar sized measuring cups. Pour a spoonful of 1 batter directly into the center of your cake pan and then quickly pour the other batter into the center of your first puddle of batter. Continue alternating (it will look like rings or circles within circles) until your pan is 1/2 to 2/3 full and repeat for remaining pans. Try not to twist to jostle your pans once they are full or you will swirl your zebra strips. Once cooled, I trimmed cakes and put seedless raspberry between the layers for flavor. Cakes were stacked and 3 supports were placed thru the cake (I used smoothie straws) and trimmed accordingly. It was frosted with white crusting buttercream (Viva method) and smoothed. The black stripes are made from store bought black fondant, rolled out and cut with a pizza cutter. I used hot pink sparkly ribbon and matching silk flowers for decorations. I brushed off any visible confectioners sugar from the black stripes with a clean paintbrush.

#5 Race Track
My son wanted a Ford Mustang race track cake for his 5th birthday...This is a 15x11" cake. Green frosting made with the Crusting Buttercream (Viva Method) recipe. Race track is made from crushed Oreos - not including the white cream center. Start/Finish line is made from store bought black/white themed candles that were trimmed to size. Five small toy Mustangs were placed on the track. Fondant was used for grass, traffic cones and tires. Racing flags and banner were printed and glued to tooth picks and wood grilling skewers respectively.

Mini Cupcake Bonfire
Cake board was covered with a large piece of green craft foam which was glued on with a hot glue gun. Brown craft foam was cut into strips to look like logs and also glued on (I love my glue gun!). Mini cupcakes were frosted with yellow/orange swirled buttercream and stacked up like a pyramid. I crushed red, orange and yellow LifeSavers and baked then on a wax paper covered cookie sheet in the oven until they were melted and bubbling. I took the cookie sheet out and tapped the edges to get the melted candies to run together. Once cooled, I peeling it from the wax paper, broke it into small pieces and stuck them into the frosted cupcakes. Be careful when eating because the "fire" pieces were actually somewhat sharp... and they will re-melt in the hot, humid Florida summer.

Fire Engine
I built a base and covered it with aluminum foil. I used a 15x11 inch cake pan and 2-2/3 cake mixes. Once completely cooled, I cut it apart, built and carved the fire engine and used large candy sticks for support and crusting buttercream (Viva method) to hold it all together. I used mini M&Ms, black licorice, DOTS and little paper flags for details; tires are doughnuts covered in black frosting. About 5 days prior I used Royal icing to make the ladders, grill, wheels, steps and other detail. These were painted with vodka and silver dust once applied. Thick craft foam or poster board covered in foil were also used for detailing in the front and rear of the engine.

Lightning Mcqueen
I used 2 - 9x13" cakes placed side-by-side with a Wilton Lightning McQueen cakepan on top. The trophy and Cars themed candles were purchased at a party supply store. This was for my 3 year old's birthday and he was upset because I put a #3 on the side instead of Lightning's actual # which is 95.

Angelfish
I used a "sunfish" cake pan I found online. It placed on top of 2 - 9x13" cakes that are side by side. I used an image of an Emperor Angelfish as a guide for decorating and added Sweedish fish and other gummies. (This was for my son's first birthday and was the first cake I ever made / decorated!)
