Goodbye Cupcakes
A dozen cupcakes for a family whose nanny is leaving to return to Ireland. Her favourite things are fries, garlic bread and sunbathing, but she seems to spend most of her time doing laundry for the family's three little girls instead! Inspiration for the colour scheme from a set of gorgeous baby shower toppers by Not Just Cakes by Annie. Thank you!

Giant Cupcake Cake
How lucky was I to be able to make this cake for Payton's first birthday and her mom tell me I could surprise her, as long as I incorporated cupcakes and sport! Best friend ever! The baby has lots of curly brown hair and a love of sport from her soccer, basketball, ice hockey, football and baseball-loving big brothers and parents! Borrowed heavily from the style of Andrea's Sweetcakes, but nobody can do this sort of thing like her! The drapes on the bottom tier are copied from Sugarbelle Cakes. I've got no idea how she does hers, but I've found a way that sort of works! Thank you, Jocelyn!

Leather Custom Converse
I made this cake for my son's 13th birthday. He'd received a pair of custom leather Converse and I thought it would be fun to try and recreate them (or one of them)! Betty Crocker carrot cake, cream cheese frosting, all held together with white chocolate ganache. The leather texture was a complete fluke. I think it was just because I had to add so much navy and black Americolor to my blue FondX fondant that it was really soft and sticky. Adding tylose to it made it even weirder. I put the cake in the freezer for a few minutes once all the blue panels were on to firm up the ganache before the next stage and when it dried out it had the leather texture. Magic!

Peacock Wedding Cake
I was thrilled to be asked to submit a cake with a peacock theme for this month's Cake Central magazine. This is my interpretation of the theme. The dummy tiers are 8" (6" high), 7" (2" high) and 4" (4" high). Thanks to my girls for their help in nailing the design - they know who they are!

Mummy And Baby Giraffe
A shower cake to welcome baby Aaden. The giraffes are copied from the shower invitation and the bamboo name plaque was copied with permission from the outstanding Sugarbelle Cakes. The quilting on the bottom tier was made with the patchwork cutters diamond side design embosser. I am writing a tutorial on elements of this cake exclusively for Sharon Zambito's new members-only website. Very exciting!

Tiffany Box Baby Shower
An 8" Tiffany box with a rattle based on a real vintage Tiffany version. The board is covered in glittery scrapbooking paper that sparkled teal and pink - such a shame it doesn't show in the photo. The board is trimmed with 'bling on a roll' to match the rhinestone message. I have a tutorial for this cake on my Facebook page. Thank you for stopping to look!

Lightning Mcqueen Cars Cake
For Devin's 1st birthday. 7" square, 6" round and 5" Lightning McQueen carved from rice crispy treats. I used my Cricut Cake to cut out Devin's name Everything else is modeled from fondant. I covered the board with glittery scrapbook paper and thought it looked just like asphalt/tarmac! Turns out this cake was due a day earlier than I thought! Luckily, I was only 10 minutes from finishing when I got the call asking where I was!

Fondant Ruffle Cake
Baby Violet's 1st birthday cake! 9", 7", 5" and 3" tiers - the top was removable for a smash cake. The cake was designed to match the birthday's girls party dress - a very ruffly tutu! Non-edible buckles. I have a ruffle tutorial on my Facebook page. Many thanks to Way Beyond Cakes by Mayen for the inspiration for the cake and for her personal help!

Quilted And Stenciled Wedding Cake
This is my first wedding cake. The bride and groom asked for ivory quilted tiers with a pearl finish and silver dragees, tied with black and silver ribbon to match their invitation. They also asked for an ivory scroll pattern on the middle, black tier (it looks brown because of the flash). I piped royal icing dots over a stencil and finished it with pearl lustre. The bride was carryng burgundy roses which she wanted as a topper for the cake, and I attached 100 gumpaste hydrangea to the bottom tier. I think I gave them the cake they wanted, but it's not really my cup of tea!

French Countryside
This cake was ordered by a husband surprising his wife for their 21st wedding anniversary. He showed me a photo of a painting that his wife loves of the Provence countryside and asked if I could 'just put some sunflowers and rosemary on the cake.' I decided to try recreate the scene from the photo instead. The houses are RKT covered in fondant and the sunflowers are cut freehand from fondant. The lavender is dots of royal icing in three colours. Everything else is fondant. Thank you for looking!

Hot Pink Hibiscus
A hibiscus cake with bamboo border. I used my new Cricut cake to cut out the hibiscus and the leaves using gumpaste. The fondant colour is Fondarific Hot Pink with extra Wilton Rose added for a deeper colour. The turtle topper is fondant-covered RKT with a gumpaste head. Thank you for looking
