Wedding Rehearsal Wedding Cake Bride And Groom Topper
This cake was made for the Bride and Groom's rehearsal party. The groom wanted me to do their wedding cake, but the bride wasn't interested in a home baker making their cake for their special day, so they went with the hotel pastry chef. I was told many times that my cake was nicer and far tastier! Good for the ego...ha ha ha. I made the bride and groom in casual clothes since it was just for the rehearsal. The monogram on the front was inspired by their wedding invitations.

This was a wedding cake for a couple getting married at the lighthouse. Lighthouse - cereal treats, modelling chocolate and fondant. Lollipop for the light. Vanilla cake with chocolate buttercream filling. Fondant coloured to replicate the PEI "red mud" cliffs, and loose rocks. Blue buttercream with 1M tip for crashing waves. Green buttercream with grass tip for grass.

Twilight Birthday Cake
Made this cake for my daughter's best friend's birthday. She loves the Twilight series and my daughter one element from each of the 4 books on the cake. It was such a small cake (6") that it was a challenge, but I think it worked! I used my new airbrush to paint the fondant black isntead of making black fondant...something I will definitely do again!

A Beach Awaits
This cake was made to tell the receipient she as going to Cuba (un plage t'attend means a beach awaits you). She was thrilled, by both the cake and the surprise trip! The water is blue and white icing mixed gently. The sand is made of vanilla cookies, turbinado sugar and demerera sugar. The shells are white chocolate from molds, and the hibiscus is my first-ever gumpaste flower!

First Birthday
This was made ofr a little girl's first birthday party. The butterfly and "1" are made from fondant and gumnpaste blend. The blocks were made from cereal treats and covered in fondant. They were the birthday girl's favourite part of the cake and she played with them for quite a while. The smaller cake was for the birthday girl to have for her very own.

Spa Day
I am very hesitant to post this photo because I still so new at this, and there are a lot of flaws in my work still. This is the Pink Champagne cake with raspberry cheesecake mousse (both recipes on CC) that is covered in pink fondant. I used a 50/50 gumpaste and fondant mixture for the girl. Since it was my first time using the mixture, I was unused to how quickly it begins to harden and I ended up with wrinkles. I think I would cut back on the gumpaste a little next time...and learn to work a little quicker! It was fun. The inspiration came from a similar cake that I found from Ayes's cakes on Google images...so I can't take the credit for the design. That is a towel on her head with some black curly hair spilling out at her neck, and there are hot stones on her back.

Candy Heart Valentine Cake
I can't take any credit for the design of this cake as I saw the idea on Wilton's website last year. I wasn't sure how difficult it would be, but it was really fun. It is a yellow cake with buttercream icing and white fondant. Then I cut out the hearts from six colours of fondant and applied them to the white fondant. I would line up the cookie cutter and cut out a part of the heart before adding the next one...then repeat. My daughter used a food writer marker to add the writing.

Horse Birthday Cake
This is my VERY FIRST EVER attempt at using fondant! It is a cake I made for my daughter's 13th birthday. She loves horses, and wanted them on her cake. So, I modelled them out of fondant (you can't see their cute bushy and swishy tails behind them) and placed them on a chocolate cake covered in buttercream and grassy green fondant. I used some tootsie rolls (rolled and kneaded until soft) wrapped around toothpicks (the sticky Tootsie rolls acted as glue) to create a fence for the background. Then I added some buttercream grass and scattered flower sprinkles in the grass. She loved it, and it inspired me to practice with fondant!
