Queen Minnie, Her Highness!
“Minnie” was on the docket, and I just couldn’t resist trying my hand at this version, Queen Minnie! So, I did, and here’s how she came out. She’s pretty big (threw my little Lucy into the picture to give you an idea) and I was absolutely certain that by the time I carried her into the venue, down the stairs and through the room, my knees were going to buckle and the children were going to start crying. Luckily…I had just enough left in me to get her to the table…but my legs were shaking involuntarily for the next couple of hours afterwards, lol. Eyeyiyie :) I’ve put together a little tutorial on how I put her skirt together if you’re interested… here’s the link TFL!

Copper & Blue Snowflake Wedding
Here’s the wedding cake I made for a bride & groom and their small family dinner celebration. The bride’s colors were ivory, marine blue and a little copper, and she wanted to incorporate snowflakes in some way. This design quickly formed in my head, along with the idea of the hanging heart key. This is a “double barrel”...I really wanted to have enough room for the snowflake swoop, so I thought this might be perfect. It’s finished in buttercream. I should have the rose tutorial up on my fb page by tomorrow :) TFL! https://www.facebook.com/mcgreevycakes?ref=hl

Baby Shower Cradle
Here's the project that my lovely customer told me I could do whatever I wanted with. All she said was that it was for a baby shower, gender unknown. For some reason, I instantly got the idea of a cradle in my head, and went searching the web for a picture of an actual cradle that I liked. Found one that looked something like this and I fell in love! Had to try it! Um...have you ever started a project, and in the middle of it practically shouted to no one at all, "What on EARTH was I thinking??" Yeah, me too. The Lord had mercy on my soul while putting this together. It's amazing what a little royal icing and some divine intervention can do for your state of being :) All the "wood" is made of a chocolate/gumpaste mix, including the nailheads and the carved "woodwork". I truly had a BLAST making the decorations for this one. Oh, and did I mention that my airbrush is one of my VERY favorite friends? lol...I've got a tutorial up on my facebook page, McGreevy Cakes now... :) Here's the link https://www.facebook.com/mcgreevycakes?ref=hl

Winter Wonderland Buttercream Topsy Turvy Wedding Cake
A winter wonderland wedding! The bride requested kissing snowmen, the chocolate snowballs, and a topsy turvy design. The background was based on her invitations. My first topsy turvy, and done in buttercream with a silver shimmer finish. Hmmm…I’ve been less stressed before. :) TFL! -- Shawna McGreevy, McGreevy Cakes, http://www.mcgreevycakes.com

Vintage Romance With A Surprise Twist!
All edible hand made roses, pearl encrusted lace, and rosettes. The rosettes in the shape of a heart was inspired by some artwork I saw floating around Pinterest. And oh yeah, that?s Deadpool?not to be mistaken for Spiderman. He was a special request by the bride for her groom. All white, with a touch of red and black, lol!
