Waterworks Landing Christmas Cake
Christmas party cake for a local Senior Living Facility. 2 tiered dark chocolate cake with chocolate fudge butter-cream. The inspiration for the cake goes to a photo of a cake I came across on Flickr by Eli Chilev. The snow is royal icing/fondant/gumpaste. The dead trees are wire frames done by hand and covered with chocolate for a bark look and the frozen pond is tinted isomalt. Everything else is gum-paste and hand made. Since the cake was for a Senior Living Facility, Santa showed up on his own personal scooter :)

Bar-Mitzvah Cake - Movie Director Theme
Huge Bar-Mitzvah cake I did in Massachusetts this past weekend! The bar-mitzvah boy is a budding Movie Director and he wanted something that reflected this. It was 3 10" cakes (chocolate, vanilla & lemon) with vanilla buttercream and fresh scratch-made raspberry filling. The top of the movie reels are foam-core covered with fondant (then air-brushed silver) and then cut out to look like film reels. The film between the reels are still shots from one of the movies he's made which were then photo-shopped onto a film strip template. The popcorn scattered around the cake was made with gumpaste/fondant and then colored with pearl dusts and gels to get that buttery popcorn look. The movie tickets are also gumpaste/fondant. The Movie Directors Chair on top of the cake was made with wooden dowels that I cut to size, nailed and hot-glued together and then stained to look like real wood. The Directors megaphone (next to the chair) was made with a gumpaste/fondant mix. I made the entire background to look like an old-time movie theater screen and the movie screen itself was photo-shopped to look like the green preview screen you see at the movies.

A Last Day Of School Cake
This was a cake for my step-sons class on their last day of school. It is a 2 layer yellow cake with a chocolate butter cream filling. The outside is a pale blue Satin Ice fondant covering finished with gum paste/fondant decorations such as the chalkboard, school books, name plaques of all the kids in his class, the small flowers and the ruler along the bottom. The teacher and the apple are modeled gum paste. I took the inspiration for this cake from a fellow CC'er on here who posted one of her cake photos. As soon as I track her photo down, I'll throw her name up on here so she can have her due credit for this awesome idea :)

Birthday Cake With Gum Paste Calla Lily Spray
This was a birthday cake for a relative. It is a 2 layer scratch marble cake filled with vanilla butter cream over chocolate ganache layers. The outside is a quilted vanilla Satin Ice fondant covering decorated with pink pearl dots and a gum paste/fondant pink pearl bottom border. The entire floral spray is completely hand-formed pink and white gum paste calla lilies, gum paste leaves and one center gum paste pink rose. The floral spray is mounted on a 5" Styrofoam half ball completely covered with dark green gum paste so that the background blends into the leaves and flowers.
