German Chocolate Cupcakes: Oktoberfest!
These are German chocolate cupcakes covered with the traditional coconut pecan frosting. I added symbols of Germany: glasses of beer, pretzels, and German flags as toppers made from melting chocolates. I know German chocolate cake isn't really German, but it's what the birthday boy wanted.

Toolbox Cake
This is a toolbox (sort of) made from gluten-free brownies iced with buttercream. I had trouble with the icing consistency, as well as with getting the corners and edges straight. The tools are made of chocolate. The small yellow toolbox is also a brownie cake with chocolate tools, but it's a miniature one.

No.1 Ladies' Detective Agency Book Cake
This is the 5th cake I have made. It is based on the covers of the book series The No.1 Ladies' Detective Agency, but it was for my aunt, who loves birds and calls them "dee-doos," so I changed the title to "Dee-doo Agency." The bird, branches and border are chocolate; the yellow background is vodka and food coloring. The cake is gluten-free yellow cake.

Alaskan Native Art Cake
This is a cake I made for my dad, who is an avid collector of Tlingit Native art. The salmon is made of melting chocolate which I piped and refrigerated separately from the cake. The cake is gluten-free yellow cake filled with cream cheese frosting. I covered the cake in cream cheese icing also, which is why it isn't very smooth. I piped the wave border with buttercream though.

Will You Be My...mega Man
For my final cake in Wilton Basics our teacher requested that we do a Valentine's Day cake. My Valentine wanted a Mega Man cake, so I combined the two concepts. The cake is gluten-free yellow cake with buttercream icing. This is also my first attempt at roses and writing on a cake.
