My 1St Football Cake
Made this cake for my mum....this was my 1st true test to baking and decorating in a day....plus I had work the next day. I knew the dates for the bdays but just just existing as usual thru the week till I looked at the date on my PC and oh my word...my mum's bday was next day and my niece's the day after...hmmm...2 cakes to bake and decorate in a day. I coped but was totally zombified next day at work. This was what I could do in the time I had.

Kfc!...anyone?
Made for a work colleague who is leaving for his country. He loves KFC and Subway so it was ideal to make a fast food cake for him. He totally loved it as did everyone else. Chicken is RKT and fries are sugar cookies. The cookies really spread while baking...had to cut them to shape and they ended up looking like some kinda bread or so...sigh. I learn a lesson with every cake experience. Still...I was happy with the cake. TFL

My 1St Topsy Turvy Cake
I made this for my birthday. I had to try out a topsy turvy as no one has ever ordered one from me. I totally randomized on the patterns especially as I ran short on time (I always do). I knew the consequences of placing the cake on cardboard but did it anyway hence the oily cakeboard base. I loved making it and was glad with the outcome. Next time I hope to make the tiers taller. Thanks for looking.

Shopping Theme
For a shopaholic who loves designer labels. Shopping bag is chocolate mudcake. Gucci handbag and wallet are RKT covered with icing sheet. Bank cards are gumpaste with icing sheet and rice paper receopt. I was off with my stripe measurements and had to live with it...sigh...long story. Anyway...I still loved how it turned out and so did the lady who placed the order. TFL.

Flamenco Theme
Made for a friend who loves the flamenco dance. She wanted me to exactly copy a design she saw, I didn't quite do so as I like some variation. It was almost going to be a complicated order being that we saw the cake in different ways (fan and skirt)...I just had to make it close to original design so it could be seen as both... She still loved it. Credit goes to the Little Bear Cakery ( http://littlebearcakery.blogspot.co.uk/2011/07/novelty-cakes-galore.html ).

Trilobite Fossil
Special request from my husband for a fossil cake. He loved the one I made last year and knowing I love a challenge he showed me this...how could I say no :) To me this particular Trilobite is so elegant...especially the way it is been prepped. I realy enjoyed making it and my husband was excited thru the whole process.

Calvin Klein Shoe/shoe Box Cake
This is a cake I made soon after the 1st shoe box cake I posted. I took on board all the problems I had with the 1st cake and used proper gumpaste for the shoe. I think I did quite good as I felt more satisfied. The only thing I wasn't quite satisfied with was the heel. Gumpaste has so much bouncebackability (is that a word!). Anyway, what I mean is that it tends not to keep the original shape as it's too stretchy and tends to shrink back to the shape it wants to be :( (you get the idea). I wanted a sleek heel with some sharp edges to it, but the gumpaste just prefered to stay round. At this point...I let the gumpaste win. Next time I'll use a different tactic ;) TFL

Shoe/shoe Box Cake
This was my first shoe cake and I must say I learnt a lot from it. The shoe broke several times but as a die-harder I patched it up several times :D It was originally meant for another cake but I just decided to use it for a free cake I made for my cousin (and learn more lessons that way). What made it hard for me was that I used 50/50 for the sole and that didn't dry as hard as I expected/wanted.... Anyway, I think I did the best I could in saving the shoe. The creases and dents on the shoe do show welll...but it was rescued out of love :). Even the box gave me stress...the fondant was too soft and using themeasured and cut sides didn't work for me as you can see...it looks like it did slide/sag a bit....not my day I think. Anyway, the next shoe box cake is a reflection on what I learnt from this cake. TFL

Baby Shower Cake
Made for a friend's surprise baby shower. She absolutely loved it. I had no theme to follow so totally went with my creative imagination plus ideas from the web. I saw and liked the birds "help feather their nest" theme card on the net and just had to use it. I liked the look and hope you all do too. Thanks for looking.
