Christmas potluck contribution. I had the idea in my head and hoped it would come out at least kinda sorta like I envisioned. It actually came out better. First time for everything I guess :-)
LMF "pancakes" colored with creme brulee torch. Modeling chocolate strawberries and blueberries, butter and bacon. syrup is piping gel and maple syrup. bacon also has fondant mixed in. Cake is vanilla butter with lemon buttercream filling (8"x3 layer)
A quick cake for a potluck. Wanted something seasonal and tasty. Nothing more seasonal to late May/June than a strawberry. And not too many things are tastier. Homemade LMF flavored with caramel for the red part and chocolate (cocoa) for the rest. Strawberry cake, strawberries in buttercream for the filling.
Memorial Day surprise cake for my brother who was in the marines. Could be good for 4th of July as well. Strawberry cake with chocolate bavarian cream filling. Marshmallow buttercream icing. Flag is white fondant (Liz Marek's recipe) with blue and red modeling chocolate applied using Jessica Harris's wax paper transfer method.
Wanted to take something fun to my last Spanish class. Didn't have much time so it had to be quick and easy. Used modeling chocolate with yellow cake crumbs for the shells, brownie chunks for the "meat", grated modeling chocolate for the cheese.
92nd birthday cake for mom. 3 layer stacked 6" square offset on a single layer 6". The blue sky is chocolate ganache made from blue wilton candy melts and heavy cream. Jessicakes (Jessica Harris) gets the credit for the modeling chocolate "balloons" anchored in a peanut butter cup. The clouds are modeling chocolate set in buttercream and the snowflakes are LMF. This was a December cake...the email today about "best hot air balloon cakes" reminded me I hadn't posted these.
This was for an open house when the business my husband works for relocated to an office located just east of one of the runways at PDX. Although I worked from actual 737 blueprints, I had to modify the scale so it would be small enough to fit on the board and still feed dozens of people. To mitigate some of the "weight" of this chunkier version of the plane, I decided to cover the bottom half in black fondant. The engines help support the wings and are made of modeling chocolate. The scratch cake is butter cake with homemade raspberry cream filling. Plane is covered in LMF, the tail is modeling chocolate. I like to cover my boards with fun scrapbook paper and cover that with shrink wrapped gift bags so it's sealed nice and tight. In this case I printed an areal view of PDX and surrounding area. Including their office building, of course.
A friend keeps a tally of the mice that are "caught" at her office. Figured she needed a friendlier mouse for her birthday. Cake is covered in cheese-colored LMF. The li'l guy is modeling chocolate.
Totally edible in the delicious sense, except the wire stem. Carrot cake, covered in cream cheese buttercream and wrapped in fondant and orange modeling chocolate. The dirt is crushed oreos. Flower/leaves are LMF. Everything is scratch (except the oreos of course).

I wanted to donate a cake to our local pregnancy center fundraising auction and had some leftover "bark" from an earlier project so I figured a baby with a binky and an acorn and a few autumn leaves would fit nicely.

Three very large sheet cakes for a wedding. Melted chocolate filigree on the ends of all cakes, gum paste callas, roses and fillers. Two chocolate cakes with chocolate ganache filling. One lemon cake with lemon curd filling. All iced in buttercream.
Then added bling...(a Christmas ornament in a jewelers box with a printed logo from the actual company her ring came from)
One small tiered cake and two sheet cakes with a...wait for it...Hawaiian theme! What a fun project. (Please ignore the cake dummy sitting underneath the board.)
I needed a fairly quick cake to take to friends' for an evening gathering. I used one of those giant silicone cupcake shaped pans, and used shades of blue/purple/rose/green for the blossoms. MMF leaves. The rest is buttercream.
Antique suitcase. When I posted this on facebook my daughter-in-law thought we'd been shopping the thrift stores for a prop :-) Guess that's quite the compliment. Very fun cake. The rice krispy suitcases were for the gluten free attendees
This was for an open house. 12x18 sheet cake that served about 100 people. My directions: Arizona and golf. Everything's edible except the flags and the board the cake sits on. In case you care, the spines on the saguarro are peanut butter candy melts piped into strings then broken to size and inserted into buttercream.
Fun, but extremely time consuming project. Learned a lot about fondant and piecing.

It's almost thanksgiving so a turkey sandwich made from leftovers seemed appropriate. But most the kids coming to the meal prefer burgers, so there's something for everyone. Sandwich & fries: pound cake; Burger is butter cake & brownies. Chips, pickles, cheese, onions & tomatoes are fondant, the rest is buttercream. A fun project for my cake class "final."
