Sweet Art For World Light Day 2016 Collaboration
World Light Day , a very special moment. At the same time this day is also a very poignant and important message. It is therefore an honor to take part in this collaboration. I came across the following beautiful poem, which I then processed in words and pictures in the cake: “Like butterflies you flutter in my stomach and in my life, Like a dove you flew by to the heavenly light, Like an angel you will always be with me. My little star in heaven who lights the way for all.” In loving memory of all the little stars <3

Sweet Autumn Collaboration 2016
Welcome to the page https://www.facebook.com/groups/1621038594873723/ This is a Dutch Cake Collaboration with artists at every level. Together we have tried to express in sugar art how we see the fall. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello, my name is Vanessa Schröer – de Heer from Wonderful Cakes. I live in Oss, Noord-Brabant in the Netherlands and I’m a proud mommy of 2 beautiful boys, Jasper & Benjamin. Because of the 1st birthday of my eldest son, I learned how to decorate cakes. Since then, 6 years ago, I have learned a lot more and made a lot of cakes. Next to my (part-time) job in a supermarket, cake decorating became my hobby and passion. I’m completely in my element when I’m decorating a cake, making sugar flowers or modeling figures. For the Autumn Collaboration I made this piece, ‘A huge autumn house’. My idea was to make a house with some figures next to it. It’s a piece of almost 45 cm high.

Winnie The Pooh Armature Cake & Sweet Table
The sweet table for the 2nd birthday of my son Benjamin. Winnie the Pooh has stood a long time on the table with the head separate from the rest of his body (see 2nd picture right corner ;) ), because gravity worked against me the night before (the complete body was leaning forward…). Not strange with an 3D armature cake of almost 65 cm high that weighs a few kilos :D But at the moment suprême he worked with me! The other things on the sweet table are: 3 types of mini cupcakes (banana-chocolate / vanilla-cherry / chocolate-mandarin), chocolate lollipops, four flavors of macarons (cherry / chocolate / mandarin / passion fruit), two flavors of fudge (salted caramel & sticky toffee) cinnamon cookies. And some savoury snacks; 2 kinds of filled eggs (curry twist / surimi), mini pizza muffins, 3 kinds of wraps and snack sticks.

Neon Splash With Sugar Dog Rose
The result of me practicing ‘controlling’ splashing of royal icing :) Because later that week I had to make a real cake with this splatter. On top a dogrose I made a long time ago, but finished it now with some color. This cake was made on a Styrofoam dummy, so he can be shown for a while.

Hetty The Hippo
I have made Hetty the Hippo, an armature workshop given by Wendy Schlagwein (4 The Love of Cake, the Netherlands). The entire cake is about 50 cm high! A very nice and certainly informative class. I'm totally happy with the result :D Hetty the Hippo is here made of Rice Krispies, ganache and sugarpaste. This could be partly replaced by cake, but this girl has to be shown in my cake room ;)

Happy New Year!
I also surprised my colleagues once again with a delicious cake. This time on New Year's Eve. On the sides are the Dutch words for all sorts of best wishes for the new year (things like: happiness / love / succes / good health). This cake is filled with 2 layers of lemon curd and 2 layers of a delicious cream with cantuccini biscuits, topped with small pieces of milk chocolate.
