Lego Star Wars
This is actually made from cake dummy's. It was made for a friend's son, who has multiple food intolerances and allergies, there's not much he can eat. So I made him a cake that he doesn't have to watch everyone else eating and enjoying when he can't! He loves star wars, and has just been to Legoland , so what better theme than lego star wars! He loved this cake very much, I loved that he loved it too :-)

The Challenge!
my first experience caking in humidity this week, didn't enjoy this one little bit :-( Got there in the end! Will try to use ganache instead of buttercream next time! The top and bottom tiers are cake, the middle is a cake dummy, just to give a bit of added wow factor! All decorations made from fondant with some added tylose. A lot of firsts with this one for me!

Wizards Of Waverly Place
This one was for my neice, who turned 8. Unfortunately didn't manage to get a picture until after my nephew had shoved the cake at an alarming rate across the table, hence the stars fallen from the hat, and the leaning buildings on the left side. Didn't have my camera handy either, this one was taken on my Blackberry.

Minecraft Cake
I made this cake for my son's 8th birthday. He's a big fan of the game minecraft! It's a dirt cube from the game, with a minecraft cake on top, from the game. The cake itself is chocolate mud cake with belgian milk chocolate ganache. Two 8" square cakes stacked together, plus a 5" round on top. This cake was very popular with his friends, I don't think anyone has made one like this yet!

He Sleeps With A Lion!
Made for a friend's little boy turning a year old. I took inspiration from his Fisher Price precious planet baby chair, and the baby is made to reflect the position the birthday boy sleeps in his crib. When discussing theme, I suggested a jungle theme, and the reply from mom was, "perfect, he sleeps with a lion" and the resulting cake was born! It's a 10, 8 and 5"

Peppa Pig!
Peppa pig cake made for a friend's little girl who turned 2 today. She loves peppa pig! The house on top is RKT, and the cake itself is a 4 pint pyrex bowl, with an 8" round underneath it. I think there are 5 layers of cake, and 5 layers of filling in between. Madeira cake with plain ol' buttercream and seedless raspberry jam filling.

Nee Naw.
This cake was made for two little boys sharing a fire fighter theme party. One of the kids dad's is a firefighter and the number on the top of the truck is the actual station number of his dad's fire appliance truck. The number was placed there at the request of dad! The fire truck is all cake, the wheels are sculpted from fondant. The building had the names of the boys in amongst the flames, the building is made from styro. Obviously the inspiration for this set up came from "cake boss".

Welcome Lil Lady!
I was so inspired by the ladybug cakes I've seen here on CC, I just had to try one! After looking at a few favorites, i decided to buy a baby mold with some money I got for my birthday recently. I am sooo proud of the results! It's amazing how much better cakes can be created with decent tools and equipment! A friend of mine just had a baby girl last week, so will be the lucky recipient of this cake! Thanks to following CCers for kindly sharing photos which inspired me to create this cake - JENNYSGOODYS, cas17, mazdamoose.

Show Me Show Me.
This was a gift for a friend's little girl, who is now two. The inspiration for this one came from the BBC TV programme on the cbeebies channel, called show me show me. The cake is chocolate with chocolate buttercream, covered with fondant. little birdies are hand painted gumpaste on plastic wires. All other decorations are fondant. Grass is royal icing using grass tip, could have done with a stiffer consistency I think. The blue is too dark too, I'd definitely do it a lot lighter with a similar cake next time. Another lesson learned.

Claimed!
This is the cake I made for my father-in-law's birthday. There's a running joke in the family about him falling asleep on the sofa, MIL is always teasing him about it, and DH for years has said"claimed" to him every time he's caught napping. I think the " claimed" thing possibly originated from an episode of Seinfeld, it was possibly something Kramer said, can't be sure though. The cake depicts the story perfectly, family all loved it. Mama D's Is Born!
These are the cakes I made for my brother's girlfriend's birthday, purse cake which I designed for her as a surprise, and cupcakes to co-ordinate to share with her colleagues at the hair salon. The banner in the background is one I had made recently after friends persuaded me to get my business cards done and claim a name for myself! I'm so proud! Mama D's is not yet operational as a business, but it's a baby step to where I'm aiming to be in the not so far off future! For now it's a welcome addition to my home kitchen, and will hopefully inspire me daily, until I get to where I want to be.

Miss Cherie Dior!
My first bag cake, the fondant ruffles took ages, but it was fun to do. Can't wait to try another. Named after my brother's girlfriend, whom the cake was for. Forgot to add, I designed this one myself, and took inspiration from current fashion for this colour combination and the tiered ruffle look in particular, there seem to be a lot of skirts and dresses in this style at the moment. The tiny bows are real ribbon, everything else all edible. It's not easy to spot from the pictures, but I imprinted the fabric around the board with lace. As seen done by Ron Ben Israel, great tip! California Gurls.
I made this for my neice's 9th birthday. She's into Katy Perry at the moment, and wanted a cake based on the California Gurls video. I actually had no idea that the candyland game even existed , until I started my research this summer for this cake! I spent ages watching the video on youtube, to get the various elements of it into the cake design, and then discovered all of the wonderful candyland cakes here on CC! Tons of fun to make, its a 3 tier topsy turvy, (my first). 9" 7" & 5". Bottom two tiers madeira sponge with raspberry jam, and raspberry flavored BC. Top tier was toffee, with toffee fudge filling. All fondant covered, with the top tier held up by candy canes, to represent the part of the video when Katy climbs up a candy cane to the cotton candy clouds. My favourite part I think is the chocolate valley, and I love the gingerbread men, which I made with chocolate fondant. So sad it's all gone! Nobody wanted to cut it! TFL!

Oh Crumbs! It's A 21!!
21st Birthday cake for my nephew. Unfortunately I ran out of time to finish off some of the details around the bottom, grass, reeds etc. which was the least of my problem, as I'd planned a different design originally, but was so pushed for time, (I was also doing a 3 tier TT cake for my neice, whose birthday is on the SAME DAY!) that i ended up doing an near exact copy of a cake by gledam, here on CC. Thank you gledam, your picture saved my bacon! happy with the overall outcome though, it's the first figure I've done, i think he came out ok. TFL!
