It's "s'more" Fun To Go Camping With Friends
This cake was made for a 9 year old boy who loves to go camping. 9" S'mores cake (graham cake, milk chocolate truffle filling, Marshmallow Fluff buttercream) on a 14" board. I used MMF to cover both the board and the cake. The trees, bears and sleeping bags are all fondant. The tent is a cereal treat covered in fondant. The pond is royal icing. The fire pit is a combo of fondant and buttercream (flames are swirled red and orange BC). Recipes were used from this site. Thanks for looking.

Nephews' Halloween Party 2010
This was for my nephews' Halloween party. 6 and 8 inch round tiers. 6 inch is vanilla cake with cookies and cream filling frosted with Whimsical Bakehouse buttercream (first use of this buttercream, haven't decided if I'll use it again) and covered in grape jello MMF (a first use of this fondant). 8 inch is chocolate fudge cake with cookies and cream filling, frosted with WBH and covered in orange (used extract this time, not jello) MMF. Pumpkin topper is a molded cereal treat. The bats and ghosts are gumpaste. All cut out decorations are fondant. The cake was a huge hit with all the kiddos at the party! TFL.

The drum set is made from cereal treats covered in royal icing and fondant. Supports are various widths of wooden dowels. The platform under the drum set is a triple thickness of cardboard covered in fondant imprinted with a woodgrain impression mat. Musical notes are hand-piped with royal icing. TFL.

David, High School Graduation, June 2010
Here we have a 2-tier square cake; 10" and 8". The 10" is white cake with buttercream filling, buttercream frosting and MMF. The 8" is chocolate cake, chocolate mousse filling, buttercream frosting and MMF. The school colors were black and gold, so I incorporated those colors in my stripe and star patterns. The cap is gumpaste and free standing (i.e. NO cake or RKT for support). The cake was a huge hit and definitely one of my favorites of my tiered cakes.

Simple Sweet 16, April 2009
11x15" vanilla cake with purple-tinted vanilla whipped cream. I used various star cookie cutters and made indentations in the corners and filled them in with a star tip. I used purple edible cake glitter along the bottom border. I love the color combo and the simplicity of the design.

Mouse And "cheese"cake, April 2008
I saw similar cakes like this online and created my own version of it here, but I do not recall the exact sources. Moving on, this is a 3 layer, 9" cake. 2 layers of chocolate and 1 layer of chocolate chip cake; vanilla pudding filling and buttercream frosting. My 2nd attempt at fondant animals, this time mice. Not all of the mice are whole, as some appear to be tunneling through the "cheese".

Haunted House Cake, October 2007
This was my first attempt at a castle cake. I learned many lessons with this cake. Top tier is vanilla, bottom tier is chocolate. The cake is frosted in a whipped buttercream icing and covered in homemade chocolate marshmallow fondant (also my first attempt with MMF). The chocolate MMF is very tasty. I used a brick pattern texture plate on the fondant before adhering to the towers. With better time management, I would have incorporated the board into the design.

Whipped Cream Graduation Cake, June 2007
Here we have a 2 tier, vanilla cake with homemade chocolate whipped cream. Each tier is a single thick layer of cake. School colors were blue and white. The graduate was an avid softball player, so we have a chocolate baseball bat and white chocolate baseball lollipops. The school mascot is a panther, so also some chocolate paw print lollipops as well.

Whipped Cream Monkey Cake, August 2007
This is a 9" chocolate and vanilla checkerboard cake frosted in homemade chocolate whipped cream. The birthday girl is fond of monkeys and so I molded some chocolate monkeys. I used a green gel (realizing after the mistake in that judgment) to make vines and some jungle leaves from fondant.

Penguin Cake, March 2007
This was a 2-layer, 9" funfetti cake. This was my first attempt at fondant-molded animals. I found the penguins SUPER easy to mold. There are 6 penguins to represent 6 cousins and each penguin's birthday hat has the initial of one of the cousins. The igloo is an upside-down cupcake. Bottom border is "snowballs" of frosting and the top border was a solid tip 10 (or maybe 12) line that I did a "pull down" motion to create icicles.

First Wilton Cake Ever, Course 1 (2006)
On a whim, I decided to take a cake decorating class. My very first cake is pictured here. 8" cake, BC frosting, cookie cutter indentations filled in with stars and outlined. Perhaps not the best cake to come out of Course 1, but I was proud of it, and I've come a long way since!

Lighthouse And Cottage Cake
This cake was done for a surprise 80th birthday; the recipient is a lighthouse lover. The cake is a 1/2 sheet cake carved to give the feel of a lighthouse landscape. The cake is frosted in a standard crusting BC. The lighthouse and cottage were molded from homemade rice cereal treats. They were then frosted and covered in a cobblestone-printed fondant; all additional decorations were also fondant. To finish off the cake after assembly, I created some grass patches and placed tiny gumpaste flowers and fondant rocks.
