Memorial Cake For My Grandmother
My dear grandmother died on Good Friday, just 3 days shy of her 93rd birthday. She was an AMAZING gardner up until she went into the hospital, and loved all things butterflies...this was for her "Celebration of Life" luncheon we held following the service. Flowers and butterflies are gumpaste/fondant.

Froggy Cake For My Son's 2Nd Birthday
I wanted to keep it simple, so this was it. It was so much fun! Thanks to all the amazing froggy cakes on this board. I used Duff's fondant for the first time and like it more than Wilton's. Tastes better too. My fondant is still super lumpy, but I am working on it. Lemon cake with raspberry jam and buttercream. The little cattails are just loli sticks colored green and the brown part is vodka and gel painted onto the fondant. I used ribbon around the bottom because I am lazy and cannot make pretty and clean edges on the bottom yet. Thanks for looking. It was fun and my boy loved it.

Celebration Cake For Co-Worker Who Eloped
It was my first time making gumpaste anything and learned alot. The fondant was bumpy as I didn't put enough buttercream underneath. The cake part was delicious--lemon betty crocker cake with 4 eggs (thanks to CC suggestions on improving box mix). People thought it was homemade. Orange ribbon--also my future go to method--easy and pretty. TFL! It was fun for me to make!

Family Reunion Cake
I hated this cake. I hated making it. It just got worse and worse as it went along and was no fun. It was for my husband's annual family picnic. The disjonted tree limbs, the terrible icing job (I attempted to smooth it with the paper towel). Anyway, the effort was appreciated and I learned alot.

Tory Story Cake For 1St Birthday
This is my 4th decorated cake and my first stacked cake. BC frosting (I tried the paper towel smoothing technique and screwed that up), fondant alien (made him too far ahead), and other fondant decorations. It was so much fun, though, and a great learning experience--i.e. little fondant balls are a pain to make and impossible to make all the same size, and don't put the topper on too soon (it makes the car ride a nighmare)! it was 100 degrees that day and the whole cake almost melted in my hands from the car into the house, but my friend loved it and it tasted good and I had a blast. TFL!

Batman Cake For Son's 1St
My first ever decorated cake and I was so proud of it. I have only done 4 so far but this one was so fun to make and frustrating too. I had great visions of how it would look, but of course this fell way short. Still, I enjoyed the coloring process and learning things like you CANNOT make black anything, it should be bought! I worked on this for so long, this little cake, and was so proud! :) It tasted good, anyhow!

Barbie Cake For My 3 Year Old Princess
She wanted a pink and purple barbie cake and so she got it. I bought a Wilton pan but some pieces were missing from the box, so I just used 2 glass bowls. The frosting is homemade buttercream and the decorations are fondant. I cut the flowers too thick but for my first barbie cake I was pleased and it was a LOT of fun. I wrapped barbie's legs in plastic and cut a hole for her and stuck her in. I bought the barbie with the bodice painted on because I was not going to attempt that. Thanks for all the lovely barbies cakes here on CC for inspiration and instruction!

Garden Cake For Step-Mom's 60Th
This was my first ever attempt to model anything besides playdough cookies for my 3 year old. The figure and veggies are fondant. Of course the dirt is oreo. It is a carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. I had so much fun and boy did I learn ALOT! This is the 3rd cake I have attempted and I think I am addicted.
