Mr Fix-It Toolbox
This was a cake for my dad's 80th birthday this past weekend. He is known for having a toolbox with him wherever he goes. The tools were gumpaste and painted/dusted to look dirty and worn. The toolbox was painted using a wide paint brush with airbrush colors.
Harry Potter Book Of Potions
9x13 cake carved to resemble a book. Covered in fondant. Edible image used for the book pages (smaller than I'd originally wanted them to be). The Snitch was Styrofoam covered in fondant, then painted. The glasses were from a costume shop. Turned out that it was cheaper for me to buy a plastic pair of glasses than to make them myself.
Dino 2D Cake
Fondant cutout by hand and placed onto cake. This cake was replicated after similar cakes all over the internet. I do not know the original creator. I'm sorry.
Burgundy And Gold
Cake was wrapped in modeling chocolate, then painted to give it a more rustic feel. The gold was luster dust + lemon extract that was brushed onto the cake.
Umbrella Bridal Shower
Umbrella and silhouette were cut out of gumpaste by using an exacto knife. The wooden slats on the sides of the bottom tier were made from modeling chocolate. Fresh flowers on the top.
Cake was covered in black fondant. Marvelous Molds scallop mold was used to create the top tier design. The fan on the bottom tier was cut by hand.

Army Promotion Cake
Hat was made from cake and I used modeling chocolate to create the hat around the cake. Gumpaste was used to create the leaves, buttons, eagle emblem.
All of the items were made from either modeling chocolate (medicine pills) or gumpaste. The nurse's name and place of work were blurred out during editing.
Bottom tier is covered in fondant and the stripes were painted to give them a richer blue. The rope spool is cake, except for the faux wood ends. They are cake boards covered in fondant.
Birthday cake for my MIL. covered in fondant. Lattice stencil for the lower tier. Layered piping (tips 4, 3, 2 and 1) for the scrolls. Fresh flowers (since I ran out of time).
Cake was based upon one done by Cake Heart. Bucket was made from styrofoam and covered in 50/50 fondant and gum paste. Sand was made using crushed graham crackers and Nilla wafers. Flip flops are modeling chocolate and the flower is made from gum paste.

Hot Air Balloon Baby
Hot air balloon with gravity-defying effect. Balloon was styrofoam covered in modeling chocolate. The animals were all made from modeling chocolate. The hot air balloons on the sides of the cake were cut from fondant using an x-acto knife.
Umbrella Shower Cake
Top tier is covered in fondant and painted with a pink luster dust to look like satin. Middle tier is covered in sprinkles and painted with gold luster dust. This tier is fake, so the gold being edible was not an issue. Bottom tier is covered in IMBC, then topped with Claire Bowman's gold Cake Lace. The umbrella was made from gumpaste as well as the flowers filling it.
Pink Baby Shoes Shower
Entire cake covered in IMBC. Pink rosettes with pearlized dragees in the centers. Pink walking shoes hand-painted with little pink flowers.

Cake was covered in fondant. Ball was made using the 6" Wilton Ball pan, covered in ganache, then covered in fondant. Net was made of fondant.
