Although it could easily also be a wedding cake. This was my first time making roses. And the letters are hand-cut and hand-painted. I really loved this cake.
This is the display cake I came up with for the Relay For Life event for our group "The Herd". We won "best site" and they said it was because of this!!!! I was floating! The base was a little bigger than 2'x2' and the tree was over 2' tall. I also made over 300 cupcakes and about 75 cake pops.
This was my first topsy turvy cake and the first time making bows. I don't know if you can see it really well in the picture, but there's a small spot on both the top and middle tier where the fondant got kind of gross and wrinkly looking. Why did it do this?? (and ignore the background....the kitchen explodes when I'm baking and decorating)
I really enjoyed doing this cake. I loved how happy and fun it looked!
I was having a TERRIBLE frosting and fondant day. It just wasn't going my way. I wanted to give up and cry!!....but I didn't.
I was a little pressed on time, so I didn't get to add as many things and details as I would have liked. I was still very happy with it and so was everyone else though. This was the second fondant cake I've done.
