Buttercream Zentangle Design
My daughter started doing Zentangle this year. I looked at what she was doing and decided it might be a fun technique to try on a cake. So, it's just a simple buttercream cake with a zentangle design piped on it. I did have to make the icing fairly thin to be able to make the patterns

Spy Vs Spy Birthday Cake
This was a sheet cake I did for my son's birthday. He was really into Spy vs. Spy from the old Mad Magazine. It's done in buttercream and hand piped. I did cut out the design on card stock and did the pin prick method of transferring it. For the bomb cake I just used Wilton's ball pan. When it came time for the cake I put a sparkler in the bomb cake and lit it. The kids loved that part. I hope you enjoy looking at it and get some ideas. I love comments so please feel free to leave me some.

Despicable Me Minion Cake
This is just a simple cake done in buttercream. It's nothing spectacular but I thought I'd share it in case someone was looking for a very simple to do minion cake from the Despicable Me movie. The "hair" is black string licorice. I hope you like it. I love reading your comments so please leave me some.

Minecraft Creeper Cupcakes
These are some cupcakes I made for my son's birthday. They are the creeper character from Minecraft. Creepers explode in the game so he wanted them on flames. I made the creeper heads out of green tinted chocolate. I hand painted the faces on with a combination of food markers and gel and paint (when my food markers ran out). The flames are buttercream icing in yellow and red and I would take a dollop of each and kind of mix and "pull" out the flames. I hope you like them. Please leave me a comment if you have any suggestions.

Minecraft Creeper Birthday Cake
This cake is done in buttercream. It's stacked and I just colored the bottom part inbetween the front and back "legs" black to make it look like it was suspended a bit. I cut it all out of a 12x18 cake and used the leftover bits for the TNT and "grass blocks" on the side. It was all piped free hand just using a ruler as a guide. I was planning on making the head layers a little bigger but I ran out of time to figure out how to do that.

Dinosaur Skeleton Dig
This cake was for a dinosaur/paleontology themed birthday party. The pieces are hand-formed fondant with a little Tylose added to make it dry faster. I formed the ribs over flower formers upside down. Since it was supposed to look like an excavation I used pourable brown sugar to give it a sand appearance and partially covered some of the bones. I mounded up cake and covered it with icing to kind of make the terrain look uneven like it was being dug up. I would love your comments or suggestions so please leave me some feedback. I'm also happy to answer questions.

Spy Themed Birthday Cake
This cake was done for my son's spy-themed birthday party. It is on a buttercream base. No one in my house likes the taste of fondant so buttercream rules the day around here. I did try a new recipe though for this cake and it turned out very dry -- which is why there are so many cracks. I never used that recipe again. The pieces on top are all fondant though. They are all hand molded and hand painted. I would love feedback so please leave me a comment. I'm also happy to answer questions.

Cowboy Boot
This was for a competition. I entered it in the all buttercream category (which includes the board). I hand painted the wood-grain board (coloring gel on buttercream). The boot straps are embossed. I used brush embroidery (for the first time) on the stars. The buckle is a frozen buttercream transfer (because I wanted to paint it with luster dust). It was all done free-hand with the exception of the stars which I used a cookie cutter to imprint on the cake and then over-piped it. I would love any comments, critiques, or suggestions. I'm also more than happy to answer any questions.

Wild About Our Teachers - Animal Print Cake
The theme for this year's Teacher Appreciation week was Wild about our Teachers. It was all done like a jungle with wild animals. This was done in all buttercream. One thing I wish I had done differently was to fill in the letters for the giraffe and leopard print with the background color first like I did the tiger and the zebra. I was trying to take a shortcut and just use the background color as the base for those. Color-wise it works but I think it would have looked better if they were built-up like the others, even if I had used the same color. I would love any comments, critiques, or suggestions you have. I'm also more than happy to answer any questions.

How To Train Your Dragon - Gronkle
I made this cake for my son's birthday. The cake is made of a combination of Wilton's ball pan and min-ball pan, 2 - 9 inch rounds, and two cakes make in metal bowls. The eyes are a split Hostess mini-chocolate donut. It is covered and accented in buttercream. The legs are made of Rice Krispy Treats. The wings are made of gumpaste. The teeth, tongue, and toenails are fondant. I'd love comments ... especially ones with feedback. Thanks for looking.

Back To School Cake For Teachers
I made this cake for a teacher luncheon for Back to School. I used modeling chocolate for the chalkboard and ruler border (hand painted). The wood border and chalk are fondant. The rest is buttercream. This is my first attempt at using modeling chocolate like that and I was really pleased with how it worked. I would love your comments or helpful tips.
