Yo Gabba Gabba Birthday Cake
I made this Brobee cake for my sweet little niece's birthday. Brobee was made out of a fondant/gumpaste mixture and then covered in royal icing "fur" that was piped with a grass tip. The top tier was dark chocolate with a cookies and cream filling; and the bottom tier was classic white cake with Italian Meringue buttercream. I had planned on doing a few 2 dimensional characters on the cake as well, but I ran into a big problem...our electricity went out...and stayed out for 31 hours! We had a terrible storm with high winds that caused a lot of damage. Anyway, I was decorating the cake when the power went out, so I did as much as I could with the light I had left. The next morning I got up early and finished decorating when the sun came up. What a fiasco!

Cub Scout Cake
This Cub Scout theme cake was done for my son's Blue & Gold Banquet. The overhand knot was made by extruding fondant through a clay gun and marking little lines to resemble a rope. The Cub Scout motto was written by my son with an edible marker. The cake was dark chocolate with cookies and cream filling and was a big hit with the kids.

Purple Paisley
This small wedding cake was made for a couple who were married a few months ago in Las Vegas. This weekend they had a second celebration here in the groom's hometown. Their original colors were white and lapis (dark purplish blue) and they wanted to continue with that theme. The cake was a classic white butter cake with a cookies & cream filling. All accents were made of MMF. I used Lindy Smith's paisley cutters for the paisley accents.

Cute As A Button!
This little boy baby shower cake is three layers of fluffy classic white cake filled with chocolate buttercream. The hand made chocolate bow is highlighted with royal icing dots and matches the ribbon on the cake base. The buttons are a combination and chocolate fondant and vanilla fondant that was colored slightly darker than the base fondant for a tone on tone effect.

Candy Cake
I made this cake when I was in a bind for time. I had planned on making a much more elaborate cake for my son's birthday, but ended up being sick for quite a few days and not being able to get anything done ahead of time. To top it off, my in-laws were coming to visit and were going to be staying at my house while I needed to make the cake. So instead of panicking, I went out and bought a bunch of candy and made this candy cake. The bow and #8 are made of gumpaste, and the candies are M&Ms and lollipops, of course. It certainly wasn't what I initially had in mind, but my son loved it!

Roses & Dots
I did this cake for a group of ladies who get together for a luncheon each time one of them has a birthday. The woman who ordered the cake was very specific in telling me that she did not want the cake to say "Happy Birthday" anywhere - that she just wanted something pretty. The cake was classic white with lemon curd and a lemon buttercream filling. The roses and some of the leaves are made of fondant; the other leaves were piped with buttercream (as were the dots).

Mr. Bump
This Mr. Bump birthday cake was a collaborative effort between my son and me. The bottom cake is a 10" chocolate round covered in fondant that he decorated with food coloring markers. The topper is a styrofoam round that I covered in blue fondant and decorated to look like Mr. Bump (of the Mr. Men series of books). The drawings that my son did are all of the different Mr. Men characters. He was so proud of the work he did on this cake. I know he will remember his 7 year old birthday for a long time

Butterflies & Blooms
I made this all white butter cake for my cousin's 30th birthday.. She loves butterflies, so I made gumpaste butterflies with yellow royal icing bodies and used flower stamens for the antennae. The yellow polka dots and ribbon roses were made of fondant. The number "30" was made w/ fondant strengthened w/ gum text that was rolled, formed and left to dry for a few days (make extras!) Though my cousin was not excited about turning 30 (poor girl - I only wish!), she was very excited about her cake!

Wild About Shopping!
This classic white cake was filled with chocolate buttercream and covered in white fondant that was dusted with pink lustre dust. The zebra strip topper purse was made of cereal treats and the makeup was made out of fondant. The four side purses were made using a purse cookie cutter and each was decorated differently.
