Hannah Montana Guitar Cake
Hannah Montana Guitar Cake carved from a 9 x 13 sheet cake. All the white details are fondant. The "Hannah Montana" label on the guitar is just paper. If I would have had more time, I would have made it edible. The "strings" are just floss. I tried painting spaghetti with pearl dust, but was obviously unsuccessful. This cake was so fun!!

Double Baby Shower For Baby Boys
What a sweet story -- a brother and a sister (and their respective spouses) both expecting boys. Both their first children. Both the first grandchildren of the family. It only called for a double baby shower! Really simple cakes, for a small family get together. But sometimes, simple is beautiful. Fondant bows, everything else is buttercream.

Disney Princess
Disney Princess cake. The decor for this party had lots and lots of hearts, so I covered the cake with the same colors in hearts. Crown and letters are made of fondant + extra tylose powder. The birthday girl insisted the cake have both Ariel and Cinderella (her favorite princesses) so I used the two toys I could find (made sure to put Ariel in the pink dress it came with, since it matched everything). Overall, I thought it was terribly cute, and I was in love with the colors -- they matched perfectly!

Spongebob Squarepants
Ohhh character cakes. What I love about them: they are just a bunch of stars so it is "easy", and there's no planning involved. What I hate about them: the pans are hard to find, it's super time consuming, my hands practically fall off by the end, and one bad move and Spongebob gets a black eye. =(

Think Spring! Birthdays And More..
This was for an office party at my company that kept getting postponed due to snow. It was to celebrate 8 birthdays and 2 new births within the office (all names of which I squeezed on the sides of this hexagon). After 60+ inches of snow, all it took was a little cake to make everyone smile and hope that March wouldn't be as bad as the rest of the winter! =)

F-14 Jet Cake
Wow this cake! My client gave me a 6 month notice -- which was great because it took my pilot husband and all his buddies that much time to find all the right pictures for me to sketch the jet to scale. Once I got it planned, executing it was easy! The F-14 is a replica completely to scale, made of fondant. Only thing I would have changed would have been to add more clouds in the sky.

Barney Cake
Barney Cake -- entirely buttercream. My client was afraid that Barney accessories no longer existed, but it was what her son wanted. I managed to dig this pan out of my Mom's closet -- when she used it 16 years ago. =) Note to self: never get rid of character pans if you can help it! They might come back in style, one day.

Over The Hill Tennis Enthusiast
This was a birthday cake for a tennis enthusiast turning fifty (hence the phrase 50-love). The cake design was inspired directly from cheflene. The net is made of royal icing, which is what holds it to the cake. I was surprised it did so well! All other decorations are fondant.

Sent From Heaven Baby Shower
I was a little frustrated when my cousin insisted on having a large (12 x 18) sheet cake for her baby shower. I wanted it to look gorgeous, but I just don't get that feeling from sheet cakes. Then I stumbled upon mariak's baby shower cake here on CC, and LOVED it. So I took all inspiration from her!

Girly Star Wars Cake
Oh this cake!! A little girl told the party venue she wanted pink and purple decorations, and then turned around and told me she wanted a Star Wars cake!! I was lost, since I knew nothing about Star Wars! I found some inspiration from CC but still had to come up with a way to make it girly. Also, I only had a week's notice, and of course, I got sick the first part of that week. So I didn't have time to mold Star Wars figures, and ended up using Lego's instead. Had a lot of firsts on this cake and I'm VERY pleased with how it turned out! Pink, purple, AND Star Wars? Mission Accomplished. =)

Little League Softball Cake
This cake was made to celebrate a season well done for a local Little League Softball team. The cake had softball field diamond, 10 softballs with each girls name and number, and a star with the team logo in the center. I used a real softball and the team jersey as inspiration.
