A Backyardigans Thanksgiving Cake
I wanted to make a special Thanksgiving cake that the kids would enjoy, so I created a Backyardigans Thanksgiving scene. I was going to put pilgrim hats and bonnets on the characters, but it was more complicated than anticipated. Just getting the fondant/gumpaste the right colour for each character took hours, Anyway, I settled for a turkey on a platter and a few pumpkins to make the backyard more festive! ;-) The look on the kids' faces made all this work worthwhile! Orange Calla Lillies
Gumpaste/Fondant Calla lillies on chocolate cake covered with chocolate BC & fondant. The Calla's were made after watching Edna's tutorial. Also, this was my first try at the quilting effect. I learned to not press so hard because it just takes away from the strength/integrity of the fondant. Luckily this was made as my final Course 4 project, and not for a client. TFL

First Two-Tiered Cake / For Nursing Graduation
This is a 10" chocolate cake with chocolate & coconut ganache filling (bottom tier) and 6" vanilla cake with marshmallow icing filling (top tier). Both cakes were covered with a thin layer of 7-minute marshmallow icing before being covered with fondant. Pills, medical equipment and decorations were all handmade with fondant.

Puppy In A Flower Basket
Butterpecan cake with buttercream basket weave and Royal icing flowers with buttercream leaves. Puppy is made out of Color Flow Icing. The marbled look was created by putting two different colours of color flow in the decorating bag (without mixing them together), so as it came out, the colours mixed.
