Mu Duel Grad
This was a graduation cake for a co-worker's son. He was a duel History and Economics major at University of Missouri (MU). The left side of the cake was the History side featuring a Napoleon hat, British and French flags, and a fondant recreation of his favorite book "Nelson's Navy". The right side was the econ side with a fondant notebook with graphs and a chalkboard with an actual economic formula bearing the school's initials. Of course, the classic MU paw print is featured in the center. This was a first try at really 'painting' with food coloring for the book. Was a little challenging, but I think the results were good. TFL!

Toy Story Sheriff Cake
This cake was a mix of a few designs I saw on CC. Thank you everyone for all the ideas! The cow spots, rope, and fringe are all modeling chocolate. The stars are fondant. The figurines are miniature toys that the birthday boy's Mom provided. The plaid design was done by piping with RI. Everyone loved the flavor and design, so another success!

Cheers To You!
This was an interesting cake to make. It was a surprise cake for a wife. The husband only told me that she goes out with the girls for 'Martini Mondays' and her favorite thing was her pet Chihuahua. He wanted a martini themed cake and wanted me to include a mini dog, so this is what he got! This was a 8" double WASC with Raspberry filling. BC w/fondant accents. I was lucky enough to find a mini martini glass at a store, so that isn't edible, but it worked!

Happy Birthday Doc!
I know this cake looks like a lot of others on this site, so a big THANKS to all those before me. The one personal touch was the iPhone in the pocket. This Doc likes to talk! This is a 1/4 sheet cake. Lab coat, tie, and undershirt are fondant. Accessories (phone, ID Badge, and stethoscope) are fondant/gumpaste.

Blue Princess Cake
Princess Cake for a co-worker's little girl, Ella. I had made a royal icing tiara that I was really unhappy with, so I made a second one of gumpaste that I think turned out a little better. I had a terrible time with humidity for this cake; my fondant was starting to get gummy so we had to break out the dehumidifier! Who would have thought that May in Missouri could be 85 degrees and 100% humidity! There were also standup gumpaste letters to spell her name out for the top; not in the picture for transportation purposes. Thanks to another CC member for the great base design; I made a few changes based on what the mother asked for. Overall, everyone was very happy!

30Th Birthday Bucket Of Beer
This was for my husband. A double layer chocolate cake with chocolate ganache. The beer barrel and bottles are modeling chocolate. The 'ice' is hard candy sugar poured out on foil to give the rippled ice look. The likeness of my husband was made from gumpaste. He was super please with it! I took the idea of the general design from a few CC users. The bottles were my personal touch, you have Old Dog 30, Tres Decades, and New Belgium 1980. A little personal humor went into this one!

50Th Anniversary Cake
This cake was 2 tier (8", 10"). BC with fondant/gumpast ribbon accent and flowers. This order was placed 1 week before she wanted it. So, I did all these flowers on short notice. I was very pleased with the cake and thought the client was also. She left happy and paid me, but after her 1 hour drive, she called to say the cake was 'sinking'. I'm still trying to figure out exactly what happened. I used dowel supports and had not had issue with shorter deliveries in the past. I've never taken a 2 layer cake on a 1 hr road trip though. She is very upset, suggestions?

Steiger Tractor Cake
The was cake #2 for a co-worker. It was a joint birthday party for her 4 yr old son and her 13 yr old neice. Yikes! Her son was into tractors and the neice was into softball, so I did the best I could to combine. Covered in MMF, tires are modeling chocolate, baseball accessories are MMF and gumpaste. Thanks for looking!

Chocolate Bow Tie Cake
My first try at a wedding cake! This was a practice cake. 10" and 8" round with BC icing, Modeling chocolate Roses and Ribbon, Chocolate RI scroll. If anyone has tips on how to make the scroll look a little more smooth, please tell! Also, tips for modeling chocolate refrigeration/humidity needs. This was a lot of 'firsts'. Thanks!
