Thanks To Teray For The Inspiration This Is An 8 Inch Chocolate Cake Filled And Crumbcoated With Chocolate Ganache This Was My First T
Thanks to 'teray' for the inspiration!! This is an 8 inch chocolate cake, filled and crumbcoated with chocolate ganache. This was my first time making peonies using Collette Peters cutters. I think I would prefer if the petals were more closed...now I know for next time. Thanks for looking!

Fireman/firetruck Cake
This is my son's 5th birthday cake. He wanted a fireman/firetruck theme, and this is what I came up with. I wanted this cake to look like an illustration out of a children's book, so I dry dusted every single piece on the cake with powdered food colors. The buildings are cut out of gumpaste, and then handpainted with airbrush colors. The buildings go completely around the circumference of the cake. Thanks to Kerririchards for emailing me the building patterns, and for the cake inspiration too. TFL!

Elevated 3D Garbage Truck
This is my son's cake for his 4th birthday. He is obsessed with garbage trucks, so it was natural to do this. I want to point out that this truck is elevated, so it appears that it is supported on its tires. It's not my best work, probably because it's my first try at any type of vehicle. I learned so much from making this cake, and the best part was my son and his friends LOVED it. In fact, I had one girl ask me 'where's the cake?' when I brought this out...she thought it was a toy LOL!

Disney's Belle
Here is a sneak peek for an upcoming cake. Belle is the theme of the cake (Hopefully that's obvious from the picture LOL). Basically the billowy dress part will be cake and I will insert this Belle figure into the top to make it look like one figure. I will add a red rose to this figure as well, to make it look like Belle is holding it in her hands. The body and dress are made from gumpaste, and the hair is all chocolate. This was my first time using modelling chocolate and I absolutely loved it! I will definitely use it again. Belle's face was handpainted using airbrush colors. This was my first time trying to construct a realistic looking person from gumpaste. It was a learning process, and I had to make this figure a couple of times before I figured out what works. Pics of the actual cake will follow in about 3 weeks.

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Theme
This cake was inspired by a similar cake that 'Goonergirl' has made. Thanks to Goonergirl for being patient with my questions! The Mickey ears and head are actually made out of styrofoam. The shoe is made from rice krispy treats, and the hand is 100% gumpaste. I cut out the trees free-hand and then brushed them with green powder food coloring to give them some dimension. I also free-handed the clouds and then used an edible ink marker to write popular sayings from the show on each cloud. Some of the sayings included 'Oh Toodles!', 'Come inside...it's FUN inside!' etc. This cake was really fun to make! TFL!!

Christmas Package
This is a Sharon Zambito design, that I modified slightly. This is the first time I used buttercream, and I followed along with Sharon's BC video, and I think the result is pretty good. The only thing I would have done differently was to crumb coat the cake first. I didn't do that, because Sharon didn't do it on the video, but I think I would have benefitted from a crumb coat. The cake is chocolate, so it was difficult to keep crumbs under control. The loopy bow was also my first attempt. I'm pleased with how it turned out. TFL!

Trick Or Treat!
This is the second cake I had to bake for this. The first one, I cut the grooves for the pumpkin WAY too deep and the whole cake basically collapsed while I was trying to ice it. I was much more careful the second time. The figures are 100% gumpaste. The cake is a yellow cake with chocolate buttercream. Thanks for looking!

First Chocolate Mmf Cake.
This my daughter's first birthday cake. I'm not overly happy with it. I had envisioned it differently than the way it came out. I've been a bit down about it today, but I only hope to learn from my mistakes and improve. This is my third fondant cake, and my first with chocolate MMF. FTR, I used MY chocolate MMF recipe for this cake. It is called " Easy Chocolate MMF". Thanks for looking!

Flip Flops
I just had some extra gumpaste, so I thought I would try making a pair of cute flip flops. The 'flower' was made by taking a tiny piece of GP and rolling it into a ball, then squishing it between my fingers to make a flat disc shape. Then I took the cutting wheel and lightly pressed it in half, then quarters, then eights etc. I used a yellow edible marker for the center. They almost look like hibiscus flowers. This was my first attempt at flip flops. Thanks for looking!

Gumpaste Rose
This is my very first attempt at a gumpaste rose. I had some leftover gumpaste from another figure I made, so I decided to try my hand at making one of these. Believe it or not, I'm already planning for a mother's day cake I'd like to make, and thought I'd better start practicing! I'm pleased with how it turned out for the first try, but I know I can still improve! Thanks for looking.

Gumpaste Girl
This is my very first gumpaste figure. I have no prior experience making clothes, hair or faces. I did not look at any tutorials, since I thought I would give it a try myself before buying a tutorial. I also made the small cupcake using a polymer clay tutorial that I found free online. This topper will be for my daughter's cupcake themed birthday party. I was trying to construct the girl figure using my daughter's features. I only made one cupcake since it's for my daughter's first birthday. Thanks for looking!
