My Birthday Cake
I was so excited to start working with gumpaste I made my DH and DD buy me the Wilton GP kit early so I could put GP flowers on my cake! So these are my first ones using Edna's tutorials (thank you so much!!). Cake is 6" spice cake in 3 layers with two layers of pumpkin cream cheese filling and BC. Chocolate wrap made with candy melts on parchment. Thanks for looking!

My First Wedding Cake!!
I did this cake for an acquaintance's wedding for this past weekend. She wanted yellow cake with buttercream filling and fondant with the ribbon and topper in her colours. The topper is made of silk flowers (a combination of Michael's and the dollar store) that I wired together. I had a great time decorating this cake and had no real hangups in the process. (A first!) Hope you enjoy!

Teacher's Cake
I made a cake to give to my daughter's grade 3 teacher for the end of year. This was her first year back after a life threatening illness and she got very close to this class. And they to her!!! My DD told me her favourite pie was peach pie so I mad a peach filling for the cake. It's pound cake with BC frosting and fondant. The flowers are artificial though. Not that good yet!!

My First Cornelli Lace
I made this cake for my Mother's birthday. It's a 6" three tier WASC with Indydebi's BC and fondant. I think that there are a few imperfections that I'll hope to clean up next time, but I'm happy with the overall impression the lacing gives. I really didn't like the cake though. I used a recipe that has been highly recommended by lots of other CCer's but I've always been a scratch baker and I could sure taste the box inside that cake. Scratch to the end for me!

Message In A Bottle
This is a 10" two layer chocolate cake with white BC and MMF. All the decorations on the cake itself are MMF except the translucent seaweed which is gelatin. My first time working with it and it was awesome! I'll definitely be experimenting with this more! Seashells and stones were to add to the ocean theme that was requested and I thought it would be cool to add a message in a bottle. Since the cake was for my neighbour's daughter's birthday (to which my daughter was invited) I thought it would be neat for my daughter to write a personal note. She had the great idea of aging the paper by staining with coffee and then burning the edges. It turned out pretty well I have to say, and the birthday girl loved it. Thanks for looking!

Thomas The Tank Engine
This cake was for a Thomas the Tank Engine party that a dear friend of mine was hosting at her place of work. (A child minding facility at a fitness centre). It was a 14" yellow cake with BC filling and frosting and all fondant cover & decorations. I ended up starting this cake at 10am and finished it at 4am that same day!! That's because I had a problem with the cake I had baked the day before. ( I had fiddled with a pound cake recipe to make it a sheet cake size and messed up proportions. I realized this as I cut it for torting and saw that it wasn't cooked at all in the middle! Set, but not cooked! Yikes!) So I was a zombie, but the party was a success and the cake was a hit! Thanks for looking.

Fairy Cake
10', 3 layer pound cake with lemon curd filling and Indydebi's icing. MMF covering and purchased decorations. The first time I tried this I made the icing too thin and the filling smooshed out the sides! I had a huge fondant bubble full of filling. Yikes!! Had to take it all apart, make new icing and thicken it up. Thankfully it held together the second time. I did find that the fondant really wrinkled though. Sometimes that just doesn't work out well for me. Still figuring that part out I guess. The client loved it though, and so did all the guests, big and little!

1St Birthday Cake
I made this cake for my baby's first birthday party. I had a small imperfection in the MMF in the back and decided to cover with a bit of piped BC. I liked it so much I decided to extend the idea all over the cake like a trailing ivy or something. It was my first pound cake and it was yummy! I usually make a more complex yellow cake but this was simpler, cheaper and still quite good. Yay! Hope you enjoy.

Woodland Elves
I saw this cake in a book and decided to make it for a friend of mine for her homecoming party. She'd been away for the summer as a forestry worker. It's a 6" yellow cake with lemon filling and fondant decoration. This was a ton of fun to make. I used brown sugar for the dirt. Thanks for looking, hope you enjoy!

Tae Kwon Do Cupcakes
This was my first attempt at fondant covered cupcakes and also at making fondant figurines to top them. I'd put figurines on cakes before but these had to be so tiny! I made these to go with the cake I made for our end of season barbeque. They were so finicky! And I learned that I need to make my fondant circles bigger to get good coverage on all the cupcakes. I used Wilton gel colouring to colour the fondant but I still seemed to get crumbly fondant. Any idea how to get that intense colour without adding too much and wrecking the fondant? Hope you enjoy and thanks for looking!

Tae Kwon Do Cake
I made this cake for our end of season barbeque. It is a pound cake with lemon filling, buttercream under and fondant icing. I hand painted the little plaque to look like the badge on the jerseys. That part took a long time but was pretty fun actually. I used brown sugar to coat the cake tray because it's white and I needed to create some definition for the cake. Hope you enjoy and thanks for looking!
