Stack Of Books Cake
This was for my sister on her 24th birthday. These are her favorite books. Made with fondant and edible images. This was my first time making books. So fun!
Justin Bieber Birthday Cake
This was for two cousins who are big fans of Justin Bieber. I copied the design from a photo of a cake they found online. Everything is fondant. The frame and stars are gumpaste.
This was scary for me. It turned out a lot better than I had planned. Everything is fondant. I painted the silver parts with some silver glaze.
Mission Farewell Cake
This cake was for a young lady who was leaving to serve a religious mission in the Philippines.
Bluebird Expecting Parents
The cake is surrounded by Pirouette cookies attached with chocolate buttercream. Mama and papa birds are made of chocolate modeling clay.
Bakerella Chick Cake Pops
Here is my attempt at the wonderfully creative cake pops of bakerella.com. I did everything the way she did except for the beak and the wings. I had to use candy coated sunflower seeds. I'm obsessed with these now!
First Try At Cake Truffles
I used the Cake Balls recipe on this site with a moist chocolate cake. I'm excited to offer these to people. They are so fun and easy to make, and now I know what to do with all my cake scraps!
Confetti And Bow Cake
This was for a customer that wanted a birthday cake for her boyfriend, but again, left it up to me to decide how to decorate it. I just went with a birthday theme and tried to do something I had never done before. The bow and confetti are made of white chocolate clay/gum paste blend. I used my kitchenaid fettucini roller for the first time to make the strips for the bow.
Cherries On Top Cake
This was a birthday cake, and the lady who ordered it didn't know what she wanted, so I had to come up with something. I was trying to copy some of the spectacular birthday cakes I've seen in the gallery, but at the same time keep it within her price range. It's made of white chocolate fondant and white chocolate clay/gum paste blend. Inside: rich chocolate cake with Buttercream Dream Recipe (from this site).
Wedding Cupcake Tower Pink&black
I made the tower out of cake boards and cake dummies, wrapping paper and ribbon, and glue. The cake and cupcakes were white chocolate cake with crusting white chocolate (recipe on this site). The cupcakes were topped with vanilla apeels stamped with their initial, and silver dragees. This was so easy to do. Cupcakes are the way to go!
Christmas Birthday Cake
This was a red velvet cake on the inside. Everything is fondant. The snowflakes are royal icing.
Autumn Branch Wedding Cake
This is my first wedding cake. I made it for my sister's wedding October 9, 09. The branch is made of chocolate plastique, and the leaves are gumpaste dusted with powder food coloring. It isn't perfect, but not bad for my first and for only making cakes since May. I made the top 4 tiers fake and the bottom was red velvet cake with almond buttercream. The bride wanted the cake served throughout the reception. So I made separate sheet cakes in red velvet, chocolate, and pumpkin chocolate chip. That way everyone could enjoy eating the cake and still see my work of art! I seriously didn't sleep the night before or the day of the wedding. I learned a lot!
Skittles Candy Cake
I made this for my niece's 5th birthday. It's fondant with skittles attached with buttercream frosting...one by one. I probably should have used royal icing. Ya live, ya learn. You can see her name in the bottom tier.
Pretty Pink And Green Birthday Cake
My second attempt at fondant. I made this for a friend for her birthday party back in June 09. Fake flowers top the cake, and real ribbon covers the border. I love how ribbon finishes a cake and makes it look that much nicer. This was my first "tiered" cake.
