Pool These.
Layered cake with butter cream and a fondant character. This was supposed to be Wilton's checker cake but it didn't quite turn out that way. I have no idea why I can't get butter cream to smooth out. Even after the Wilton class. They said to let it crust over some and it just makes it worse. So mostly the inside is what impressed everyone.

Brownie Bridging To Jr. Girl Scout
It's the end of the year and the troops are moving up and on. This is/was our Brownie troop "bridging" ceremony. The rainbow is double sided with a bridge in the middle made purely of fondant, no extra support structure, and candy rocks for the path. I tried to use the Wilton sparkles gel, it ran. The rest is all butter cream frosting. Thanks for looking and happy creating! (My 9 year old helped with the bottom of the cake, brown.)

Flowers And Butterflies.
This is a cake I made for my sister. The butterflies were an experience. It was my first time. They are not perfect but I took notes : ) and hopefully it will go better next time. The most stressful part was the two days that they had to set up. Finding a safe place for them to set up with a hubby and two kids. . . whew! Glad it is over. Will have to ponder that one. Butterflies are royal icing and the rest is buttercream.

Flower Cupcakes.
I was surfing the web for a fun flower to put on top of my cupcakes. These are supposed to be begonias, taste testers said dogwood blossoms. I used a new butter cream recipe as well; all butter instead of half and butter and half shortening. I think there was just a bit to much liquid. They have a bit of a melted look to them but they tasted great with the deep dark chocolate cake.

First Topsy Turvy
Life was great until we got it in the car. With every bump the bottom started to form fissures. With the last corner and final bump the bottom couldn't take any more. Hubby stuck his thumb in it to keep it out of his lap. Once in the house, my mom and sister used skewers to prop up the side. ANY ADVICE APPRECIATED!

Police Badge Cake
This was hard. I had one patch. The others trickled in as bad scans or inch by an inch pictures from a web site. It is okay, a couple of the badges lost their shape. Perhaps this should be in cake disasters. Nothing much was said at delivery except that there was a badge missing (I didn't forget) and could I add it right there with a CAN blue frosting from the store. By CAN I mean Betty's nifty frosting under pressure can with tips provided. Seriously! It is all done in butter cream.
