Green Meeple Man
I made this little green meeple man for a friend of ours who is as avid of a boardgamer as we are!! It's brownies covered with modeling chocolate. He always plays the green meeple when we play games, so the meeple had to be green! I cut it out of an 8" round. After Ian cut his head off, his son yelled, "Cut his arm off too Daddy!" They had fun terrorizing the poor meeple! :) The board is fondant embossed with wood grain and painted with brown gel/vodka mixed.

Zebra Purse
I made this cake for a friend at my daughter's school who has been soo kind to me! It was a thank you cake. Lemon cake with buttercream cut from a 9" cake round. Hand painted zebra stripes. What was super fun though is taking this shot in a new spot in my kitchen...my new photo booth! :) Check out the pic attached...you can use your kitchen sink and a few pieces of foam board...super simple and makes for great lighting! :) Happy picture taking!!

Vintage Ruffle Wedding Cake
I created this cake for a wedding shoot that a photographer and wedding coordinator put together in my area. I took these pics of the cake before I took it down to the shoot, so the coordinator said I could post my own pics! :) I LOVED how it turned out. I was given some plates from anthropology to use as inspiration and took it from there. The entire shoot was all white on white with a little pink, so this is what I came up with. After the shoot was over, and I got the cake back (it's a dummy), I took the base off and flipped it over! :) I actually like it better flipped...see attached pic. Pretty funny how a simple design change can totally change the look of the cake!!!! They are trying to get the shoot published in a couple magazines, so I'll post pics from the actual shoot on my blog after it goes to print. Thanks for looking!

Stand-Up Lollipop Cake
I created this cake for my daughter's 6th birthday! I had intended to roll out various colors of fondant and then twist them together, and then wrap them into the circle shape. However, that totally didn't work! Nothing would stick together and the fondant began breaking! So, with an hour left to the party, I squished everything together and it was a tie-die lollipop! :) My daughter still loved it and it was yummy!! To see how it's built, check out my blog.

Vintage Money Purse
I created a set of cupcakes, money and a purse for my husband's school auction last night!! I was REALLY happy with how the purse and the money turned out...sooo fun and very real looking!! I hand painted the tree on the purse and used edible images for the money. The purse was chocolate cake with chocolate hazelnut buttercream and chocolate ganache. The money was stacks of rice crispy treats covered in modeling chocolate. The 12red velvet cupcakes were filled with cheesecake and topped with cream cheese SMBC. The 12 coconut cupcakes were filled with white chocolate coconut custard and topped with white chocolate SMBC. The set raised $1,400 for the school!! I was shocked and thrilled!! So fun!! TFL!

55Th Anniversary Cake
I did this cake for Holt International's 55th anniversary gala auction. There were several desserts put up for auction and I was happy to be apart of it. Chocolate mudcake with vanilla SMBC and dark choco ganache. The fondant is the amazing Michele Foster Fondant. Love it! All decorations are modeling chocolate. The hand painted saying is their logo "From your heart to your home". The decal is their logo.

Teeny Tiny Cake Ball Cupcakes
I love little cupcakes and cake balls! - So, I combined the two into one. I had some cake scraps left over so I decided to make them into tiny cake ball cupcakes. I used the Wilton peanut butter cup mold for the bottom. There are so many fun ways to decorate these tiny treats! Enjoy!

Baby Shower Cupcake Tower
I made 100 cupcakes for a friend's baby shower! That was the most I'd ever done, but it went really smoothly! :) It was a pirate themed party with white, black and red. So, I made her coconut cupcakes, red velvet cupcakes and chocolate cupcakes to tie in the theme. I also made the cupcake tower just simply gluing pieces of cut foam core together to form boxes. They were 9x9, 15x 15 and 12x21. SUPER simple and fun! Then I just covered the outside with some red wrapping paper. Thanks for looking!

Vintage Baby Shower
I made this set for a girlfriend having her first baby girl. Chocolate cake with sliced strawberries and vanilla IMBC filling, covered in MMF. The cupcakes were lightly infused lemon cupcake with lemon curd filling and vanilla IMBC frosting. I didn't have much time to put this cake together, so the design had to stay REAL simple! :) Thanks for looking!

My Latin Lady
I created this cake for my husband's school auction! The theme was Bailemos (Latin for "Dance"). It raised $600 and was served at the auction dinner that evening. It was 15 layers of vanilla butter cake (filled with butterfinger buttercream and chocolate ganache), stacked and carved. The top shoulders/neck were RKT molded by hand. It was my biggest cake ever!! The base was fondant scored and painted to look like wood. The shoes were modeling chocolate. The Latin Lady stood about 42"H and was suspended above the board about 15". I couldn't even fit it into my van!!!! My sweet sweet friend Summer (Summerki) was over to help since I radically hurt my back the night before, so she and my husband drove it downtown to the auction just to make it in the nick of time! It was amazing!! Thanks Summer for your help - I couldn't have finished it without you!!

Vintage Ruffle Cupcakes
I created these cupcakes for this past June issue of Cake Central Magazine! I am so inspired by vintage fashion and have seen little head bands and shoes with these flowers on them made from fabric. So, I thought, "Hey, I can do that in fondant!" - and I did!! There is also a tutorial in this past issue on how to make these ruffle cupcake tops...or just ruffle flowers. Enjoy!

Good-Bye Suitcase Cake
I made this cake for a friend who is moving away! It was all cut from a single 9" round. The suitcase was 7.5"x5" and the purse was from the little edges of the round cake. It was itty bitty! Which always makes it harder to create! This was my first suitcase! I loved it and can't wait to do another one!! It's chocolate caramel mudcake with vanilla buttercream filling/crumb coat. All decorations are MMF w/ some gumtex added for stability.

4Th Of July Cake
I made this cake for a friend who was hosting her annual 4th of July party on a beautiful lake at a very georgous home. She wanted something to represent the holiday, but that was also classy enough for the venue. So, after several designs, she settled on this one because it represented the holiday, the lake (with the blue/water swirls) and was unique and classy. I hand painted all the silver decorations and piped all the dots around the base and the stars then hand painted those silver too. The top cake was chocolate with mocha buttercream and chocolate ganache. The bottom cake was vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream and sliced strawberries. Overall I was very pleased with the cake and everyone at the party enjoyed it too! Whewww...successful! :) Thanks for looking.

Cake Central Magazine Cake
I was asked to submit a cake for the Then and Now section of the new Cake Central Magazine. I was sent a picture from a 1940s wedding cake and was asked to "modernize it"! I love fun inspiration projects, so I went for it. I decided (due to time constraints) to do a single tall tier for the top of a cupcake tower, and then create some inspiration cupcakes because the cupcake towers are very trendy right now. The design of the cake was inspired by the repetitive (yet unrecognizable) buttercream design on the 1940s cake and the ferns that were placed all around the base. I created a modern fern detail and a repetitive pattern along the bottom of the cake. The silver and black details were hand painted and the green fern was fondant. The whole cake was covered in MMF. I liked how it turned out and so did Cake Central as they published it in the second issue of the magazine! Thanks Leanne and Jackie!! It was such a pleasure working on this project!!

Dr. Seuss Hat
I made this cake for a work associate's daughter's 3rd birthday party. I love Dr. Seuss so it was fun to take it on. I don't have an airbrush, so I wish I could have gotten the red more "cartoonish", but you work with what you have!! It was for a friend, and they loved it, so that was all that mattered! It's 6 - 6" layers of vanilla buttercake with butterfinger buttercream and chocolate ganache. Thanks for looking!

Cake Central Magazine Cupcakes
I was given an inspiration photo by Jackie and was asked to make a cupcake or two based on the inspiration photo. The photo was of a model wearing a very brightly colored floral dress. So, I was inspired to create several cupcakes in various colors to represent the flowers on the dress. These were put in the very first issue of the Cake Central magazine...I was sooo honored!! Thanks Jackie!! The flower was inspired by a friend of mine on etsy who makes beautiful little fabric flower head bands. Since these cupcakes were made several months ago, I've since used this design on several other cake projects.

Princess Dress Form Cake
I made this for my daughter's 5th Birthday yesterday! Vanilla cake with butterfinger buttercream filling and crumb coated in chocolate ganache. I was happy with how it turned out although ran out of time and had intended for there to be gold trimming on the dress and some of the ruffle details. It was a fun cake to make! First time doing ruffles and swags...a little learning curve there! Thanks for looking!

Vintage Scallop Cake
I wanted to make a cake for fun as well as to try out a few new techniques. So, I sat down and sketched out a few new/original designs...and decided on this one to create. It reminds me of a 20s flapper dress! :) It's not for anyone in particular...more of a practice cake...and for fun of course! :) All MMF w/ 30% modeling chocolate added to it for structure. I really like how it turned out! The flower is also something new and was very fun to create! :) Thanks for looking!

Stripes And A Basketball
I quickly put this cake together for a friend who was struggling with what to do for her daughter's birthday cake. I already had the cakes, frosting and black fondant ready to go so I told her I'd "throw" one together for her (I had to decorate it in 3 hours)! :) I tried a new technique with the stripes and LOVED how it turned out! I also tried doing the "explosion" thing too off the top of the cake and realized I need to practise that more! I also tried the varnish, but didn't have time to let it dry to see what it would look like...so the black fondant ended up looking like tar! :) LOL! Oh well, I am happy with the basketball and stripes! And my friend and daughter were SUPER happy...so that's all that matters! :) TFL

Candy Cane Striped Cake
I made this for a friend of mine who is doing a bible study on using your talents and gifts at home to bless your family. This is what I do...make cakes to bless others (hopefully!) ;) MMF with red modeling chocolate/fondant mixed accents. There are five layers of red velvet inside with white chocolate cream cheese frosting between the layers. So, not only is it striped on the outside, it's striped on the inside too! :) The bow was an after thought...after I ruined the loopy bow I made :( - but it's fine! Last minute fixes work out...just not as well as my intended bow. Thanks for looking!

Shipped Flower Pot Cake
I tried my hand at shipping a small mini-cake I made for a friend who lives 200 or so miles away!! Sorry no pics of the cake not in the container, but here are the before and after shots!! It totally made it with only a few cracked off flower petals!! The blue flowers were fine, it was the more delicate white flowers that suffered. But hey, it still looked great!! YEAH! Vanilla cake with ganache filling and modeling chocolate covering and flowers. I "glued" the cake to the board (which was glued to the container) with melted chocolate so it never fell off or shifted! I think the key was shipping it in the clear container...the postman could see it and was probably much more careful!! I'm just glad she had a semi-intact birthday cake to eat on her birthday!!

Wedding Cake Cookies - Stacked
This was my second attempt at some designs for stacking sugar cookies like a wedding cake. I'm still working on getting the sides straight so they line up. I tried to shave the edges off with a knife...which sorta worked! - but led to more crumbs and sometimes not even sides. Any advice on getting cookie sides totally straight would be great! :) It's fun to come up with new ideas though! Thanks for looking!

Wedding Cake Sugar Cookies
I think this is the second time I've made sugar cookies! :) HA - I'm SO not a baker! I've got to figure out how to get the sides straight and not flared at the bottom. Oh well! This was for practise and for fun. I've seen these around, but never really decorated. I think they would be such fun wedding favors/gifts. Thanks for looking!

Osu Beavers Baseball Hat
I made this hat for my amazing husband! He turned 35 and loves our Oregon State University Beavers Football team! He has a hat just like it, so I copied it for him...he was amazed! I carved the hat from 5-9" vanilla butter round cake layers after I filled it with butterfinger buttercream! Oh yuuummmy! I set the hat up on a wedge so that when I attached the bill, it looked like a real hat - real hats don't sit flat on the counter. This was my very first hat, so I was really happy with how it turned out - although I'd like to find a way to make it look more like fabric and not leather?! - any tips??
