Red White And Blue Birthday
I designed this cake for my nephew's first birthday party! The design fits his family perfectly as they are the golfer types and his room is decorated in baby blue, red and white!! All decorations fondant and fondant/gumtex mix. This was only the second time I've piped on a cake! - I'll have to practice more!! :) Top cake is vanilla butter cake with raspberry IMBC and bottom cake is chocolate with vanilla IMBC. The cupcake was devoured by his little hands during the smash cake time! It was so fun! Thanks for looking!

Knitting Bag Cake
Inspired by Amy Butler fabrics, I designed this knitting bag cake for my Aunt's Retirement party. It is 5 layers of mudcake carved from 9" layers. I used two pieces of fondant with black chocolate modeling clay piping on the top and covered the front and back in two pieces. All the black is modeling chocolate including the hand cut flower based on one of her collections. All the contours of the cake were carved and then the rope was placed just in the openings where I poked the holes. A fun cake to make, but the carving part was tough...however, I'm really happy with the results! TFL

Mini Dogwood Cake
I made this for my sweet friend's b-day. It's brownie cake with marshmallow buttercream filling. Bottom tier is 3.5", top tier is 2". The flower/decorations are all out of modeling chocolate. Probably not too smart as my hot hands kept ruining the flower...but once it set up in the fridge, it looked great. Next time I'll make it with gumpaste...but it sure tastes better this way! My second mini cake!! Thanks for looking!

Knitting Bag Cake
I made this for a sweet friend who quit her job to start a sewing business!! It's all edible except the knitting needles. The yarn is cake balls with fondant rope and the bag is layers of graham cracker cake, chocolate cake and caramel SMBC. The straps are modeling chocolate. My first time using an extruder...a little learning curve, but once I figured it out, I really liked how it made the yarn look!!! TFL!

Zebra Shoe And Shoebox
This was my first attempt at lots of things...first time making a box type cake, first time making a shoe, first time making tissue paper, first time hand painting all the zebra stripes (shoe and lid)! But I loved how it turned out! Dark Choco mudcake with vanilla ganache filling/crumb coat. The shoe and bow are modeling chocolate and the tissue paper is gumpaste. Thanks for looking!

Giraffe Print Purse
This was a brownie cake with three layers of buttercream inside, covered in ganache before applying the fondant. The red handle and bow is modeling chocolate. This was my first purse cake I've made (along with the brown/pink zebra one). I made these together for my mom and sister!

Mario Kart Topsy Turvy Cake
This was my first Topsy Turvy Cake! Yes, I wanted to cry and scream a few times, but after all the decorations went on, I sat back and smiled! It's been warm around here and I used oreo butter cream filling, so after all the fondant issues (serious cracking), stacking, and decorating, I got some serious bulging! :( I was so disappointed, but all in all people were looking at the overall cake, not the bulges! And, it was for my nephew who absolutely LOVED it! So, that's all that matters!!

Hamburger Cupcakes
These were inspired by the amazing Bakerella! She had these and all the how-to instructions on her blog. I had to try them out as my dad is a HUGE hamburger and french fry kinda guy!! The buns are yellow cake mix cupcakes, the burger is brownies, the french fries are sugar cookies coated in sugar and the ketsup/mustard are frostings colored to match. Oh, and the lettuce is fondant. So fun!! My husband bit into one just like a burger and said, YUUMMY!

Flower Pot Cake
This cake was inspired by the amazing Cupcake Envy cake designers. I LOVE their mini cakes and especially their flower pots. This was my first flower pot and first time ever making flowers! I did the ribbon roses because it was quicker! :) I used brownies and choco ganache for the cake, then domed the top with cream cheese buttercream in order to have a base for the flowers to stick. The outside is modeling chocolate. I was happy with my first attempt! And so was my sweet friend who enjoyed it on her birthday!

Sushi Cake
Inspired by Confetti Cakes, this was my simpler version of the sushi cake for my brother in law. It's chocolate cake with SMBC filling. The only thing not edible is the chopsticks because I had to make this in a day and didn't have gum paste! :) The sushi's are rice cereal with fondant decorations around it. I loved painting the wood grain look...it was a fun cake to make!!

Tea Pot Cake
Another tea pot cake - and a big one at that! The handle/spout were gumpaste. The tea pot and base cake were both vanilla cake with chocolate ganache. I learned that when you roll the fondant too thin, it picks up the dark chocolate color underneath...but that was after I had decorated it...when I put the spout and handle on...they were a slight shade of pink off...cuz of the chocolate ganache showing through! Oh well...live and learn! This was for a friend and they loved it!

Sweet Butterfly Baby Shower Cake
I made this cake for a sweet friend having her first girl. We wanted it girlie but modern so this is what I came up with. The top tier is carrot cake, the bottom is brownies. Both layers were filled/crumb coated with white chocolate ganache. YUUMMMMY! :) The butterflies were gumpaste, the brown curlz and letters are modeling chocolate. Besides having issues getting the butterflies to stay on...it was a fun, beautiful cake to make!!

Polka Dot Birds Nest Cupcakes
These were inspired from Confetti Cakes Cookbook (the polka dots). This was my first attempt at domed filling/fondant topped cupcakes. It turned out to be a lot of work...but very fun! The bird's nests are katafi, baked with butter and sugar/cinnamon. I've never done that before either...so, I overcooked them a bit. But, it was fine...my friends loved it! :)

Purse Cakes For Mom's Day
I made my sister and mom some purses for Mother's Day. The cakes are carved from chocolate cake with SMBC filling. The decorations were modeling chocolate (red and brown). I ganach'd the outside before putting the fondant on. I tried brushing the pink with pink luster dust, but it went on kinda streaky. Other than that, it was a FUN project - my first purses!

Cars Trucks And Trains
My son turned 2 and I wanted to do a cake of everything he loves on it. It was soo fun, and very time consuming, but I'm happy with the results. This was the first time I made a mud cake and ganache filled/frosted the whole thing before putting fondant on. I made all the decorations before hand out of gumpaste and used some of his favorite real cars on the cake. Happy Birthday Son! Sorry about the turn table under it...I was taking video of it and left it sitting on the turn table for the pics! :)

Dice Cakes
I had the pleasure of attending a game night with my husband. He plays board games with a group of guys and allowed me to come one night. So, I made up a big batch of brownies, carved them into dice, and whalllah, dice cakes for game night! It was a fun night!! - and I even one a game! :)

Dharma Birthday Cake
This was a brownie cake with SMB filling. My friend LOVES Lost and hates cake...so, she got a brownie Dharma cake! :) This was my third fondant cake and I'm soo new at this that I didn't even know about flooding techniques with royal icing. So, to get the design, I carved it out and filled it in with melted chocolate...but wished I had learned about flooding because it would have been much smoother!! :) Oh well...now I know.
