Curious George & The Firefighters
A friend's son desperately wanted Curious George and/or a fire truck. He looked around in his are and could find plenty of simple fire trucks, but no George. So, he asked me if I could do something. The cake is sculpted to look like the one on the book CG & the Firefighters. Red buttercream (I hate buttercream) with fondant accents. The water is sugar on wires, which helps support George playing on the hose.

Double Happiness
It's actually an engagement cake for a friend who just got engaged to his Taiwanese girlfriend. His mom wanted a cake that would be meaningful for her at a surprise engagement party. The dragon and phoenix are traditional Chinese wedding symbols, as is the Double Happiness character. Red is good luck, and is the traditional color of Chinese weddings. The character, dragon, and phoenix are all color flow.

Evolution Of A Graduate
For a friend who graduated with degree in biology. I don't vouch for the historical accuracy of the figures. ;) The primordial ooze is blue Jell-O, and the goo around the edges of the ooze is because I didn't think about the fact that the main ingredient in Jell-O is water, and it melted my fondant. Looks pretty cool though, I think. :) Figures are fondant, pirouette cookies around the sides.

Hokie Cake
The bride didn't want a traditional shower, but her mom didn't know exactly what she wanted. Both the bride & groom were soon to graduate from Virginia Tech, and the groom was joining the Navy. So, I just used those two ideas. The water is piping gel, and the figures are all fondant. The flag says, "USS Hokie"

Dungeons & Dragons
For my DH's birthday. Not the greatest technically, but it's a fully playable D&D board. All the parts are separate. The figures are fondant representations of the actual people that get together to play. It's supposed to be a sea palace, so I also made Poseidon, crabs, fish bones, and the skeleton of a previous adventurer. There are mermaids in a pool in the back modeled after the daughters of the players. They're silver to make them look like metal. They had fun playing it!

Queen Bee In Training
This was fr a girl celebrating her 13th birthday in the hospital. When the hospital staff talked to her about what kind of party she wanted, she said she wanted a cake with a crown. She also mentioned that her Nana had died the year before, and that they all called her Queen Bee. The granddaughters were all Queen Bees in Training. It's hard to tell in the picture, but there is a bee shape in the middle of the tiara, and little fondant bees around the top of the first tier.
