My sister and I made this cake for our mothers wedding as our gift. Our mother did not want a tiered cake and was having an outside garden wedding. We made it so it could have been tiered if she changed her mind at the last minute (if you can picture the 3 layers on top of each other).
We made this cake for the principal at my sister's school. This was our 1st attempt at a tiered cake. It did lean a bit, but overall we were happy with it. We were not going for a perfectly smooth surface, as we are not good at that yet. We need a better buttercream recipe than we are using, ours does not crust very well. We added the cupcakes because the head count went up by 20 people after the cake was done. The school colors are red, white and blue.
