Bowl Of Spaghetti And Meatballs
Bowl of spaghetti & Meatballs! 2-layer, 9" rounds, covered in fondant and painted black (serving as the bowl). The pasta is made of fondant, which was run through the pasta maker. The spaghetti sauce is buttercream . The meatballs are fondant, and I just dipped them in the "red sauce."
Suicide Silence Cake
Probably the most unusual cake request yet - from my boyfriend's son for his 16th birthday. He wanted a duplication of the poster he has of the lead singer of his favorite band - "Suicide Silence." I carved the body from a 9x13 WASC, covered in fondant & handpainted, including the tattoos.
Electric guitar cake for my co-worker's son - made to match the party invitations. Carved from 9 x 13 WASC (guitar neck carved from 8 x 8 WASC), all covered in fondant and hand painted...strings are dental floss...doesn't get more food safe than that! LOL.
Crown On A Pillow
This was for my co-worker's husband's 40th bday...he calls himself "her king." 2 layer 8" round basic chocolate cake on top...pillow was carved from 9x13 layer. Crown and pillow are covered in fondant with fondant and gumpaste accents.
Wedding Dress Cake
2 layer 12" square WASC variation with gumpaste flowers. Pink background and wedding dress are both fondant.
Lsu Tiger Cake
I made this cake for my dad's 60th birthday - he's a HUGE LSU football fan. The body was hand carved from 2 16" square layers (each cut in half and stacked). The head was made from RKT (my first try at it). Fondant accents, entire cake hand painted. I learned a LOT while making this cake...it ALMOST landed in the "cake disasters" category. Unfortunately, it was pour rain when I had to leave home with the cake, and some of the color ran. Thanks to many cc members for the inspiration for this cake.
This cake was for a relative of a co-worker. The base is 12" square, and the 2 books are make from a 9 x 13 (split in half). I baked the base of the cap in a small stainless steel mixing bowl. All accents are fondant/gumpaste. The photo is an edible image that I had printed at a local bakery.
This cake was a replica of a Motorcycle tank...actually, I added the "flamejob" myself (thus the can of paint and roll of tape on the side) :) It was carved from a 9 x 11 double-layer WASC, with fondant covering and accents.
Angels In The Garden
Birthday cake made for one of my favorite co-workers...8 inch square, covered in fondant with fondant accents and gumpaste daisies. The angels are fondant and were shaped with a mold.
Spiderman And Venom Cupcakes
These were basic yellow cupcakes with buttercream icing. Spiderman and Venom faces were made of sugar cookies, cut with an oval fondant cutter and iced...time consuming but fun!
This was a one-layer 9 x 11 chocolate cake, carved to shape, torted and filled with chocolate buttercream...fondant covering and accents.
The basketball cake was carved from 3 9-inch layers and covered in fondant and fondant accents. The board underneath is painted with brown/yellow food color and made to look like a woodgrain basketball court. The scarf around the bottom represents the team colors. I brushed pearl dust over the ball to make it a little more feminine...this was for a little girl :)
Table Setting Cake
Cake for my mom's 60th birthday...she loved it! Our family is Italian, and everything is about fine dining. It's a 4-place table setting, fondant placemats, chargers, plates, and folded napkins/rings. The centerpiece is a bouquet of gumpaste flowers.
This cake was made for my boyfriend's son's 17th birthday - he is a WWF fanatic. The "ring" is an 8" square, double layer chocolate cake, covered in black fondant with fondant and gumpaste accessories.
