I was asked to make a cake for my dads 71st Birthday. He collects John Deere tractors and uses them on his farm. I created him and I on one of his tractors as I remembered us when I was a child. He had tears in his eyes when he saw what I had made for his cake. I made the tractor, trailer, gas can, watering can, shovel, vegatables and accesories out of gumpaste and fondant. I baked a butter cake that I dyed yellow and green for the layers, frosted with chocolate buttercream. I never had any schooling, it was a true labor of love, Although very time consuming I was very happy with the end result. Fun Hobby. He is keeping the tractor to add to his collection of toy tractors.

I made the tractor, Trailer, watercan, gas can all the veggies and shovel free hand out of gumpaste and fondant. I included him and I as a child which made him cry when he saw what I did. I never had professional schooling, it was a true labor of love. I even made the 4 layers of the cake green and yellow (John Deere colors) and filled it with chocolate buttercream and raspberry bakers jam. Although very time consuming, I was very happy with the end result. Fun Hobby.
Made by request for my dad John, his 71st birthday. He lives for tractors, This is how I remembered him when I was a child. I made the JD "A" tractor, trailer,gas can, watering can, shovel and vegetables out of gumpaste and fondant. The rest is buttercream with a 4 layer cake dyed green and yellow (John deere colors). I never had schooling, it was a labor of love all by hand. Very time consuming but I was happy with the end result.
