Skateboard And Dirtbike
All they said was "he likes skateboarding and dirtbikes." This is not what I originally envisioned, but it turned out okay I think. First time for royal icing transfers (stuck them to lollipop sticks and into the cake). I really wanted to do a half-pipe or quarter-pipe for the skateboarder to be on, but couldn't get it figured out in my head. :( And I know "Xaiver" is usually spelled "Xavier" but they explicitly spelled it this way. I have a bad feeling about it, but I did double check with them. If it's wrong...it's not on me!!!!!

Thomas
So this morning I was at the bank setting up a new account and I happened to mention that I was decorating a cake for a cousin's birthday. Well, she sarcastically asked if I wanted to do another one - not realizing that I would agree to do it! They're celebrating her grandson's 6th birthday tonight. I would like to get my name out so I agreed. This is how it turned out. She was very pleased when she picked it up. I think it's kind of plain...my next one will be better!

Hummingbird
Tonight at about 6:00 one of my distant cousins asked for a cake....for tomorrow! Generally I want more notice, but it's family....what's a girl to do?! Anyway, they said white cake with hummingbirds on it. So, I made a french vanilla cake with strawberry filling. FBCT for the top...sprinkled with gold dust to make it sparkle. It just looks dirty in the picture, but it looks cool in person. Anyway, glad that's done!!!! They asked for a dirtbike and skateboard cake for Sunday, too. At least they gave me some warning this time! TFL!

Wedding_Cake_2008.jpg
Okay, so I did this wedding cake before I knew ANYTHING about decorating cakes...so you'll have to forgive the super huge flowers!!!! That's what gave me the decorating bug, though! I knew my cakes were yummy, but I always just threw frosting on them and called it good. After someone asked me to make their wedding cake I decided to experiment more...and experimented even more after that! Now I'm hooked!

Queen Bee Birthday
The name of my former boss means "Queen Bee" and she is obsessed with bees! And so the Queen Bee cake was born! The bottom cake is dark chocolate cake filled with chocolate ganache. The beehive is white chocolate cake with white chocolate ganache. All decorations (including the "wrap" on the hive) are made from marshmallow fondant. The birthday girl L-O-V-E-D it!!!!!
